Staying at DLH...which room?

Hi all,

we finally completed booking our trip to disney in august....we are sooo excited. we booked thru disney and got a "preferred standard" room at the DLH. My questions are:

1) should we/could we request a specific tower?

2) what does "preferred std" mean? i hope we don't get a view of the construction but hey, we will be at disney!

3) how far of a walk is it to the parks from DLH?

we thought about staying at GCA b/c it was closer but a rep told us that it isn't that much closer (not for the money). Regardless, we are soo excited!

You can request a certain tower and it will be noted but it doesn't mean that you will get that tower, they can't guarantee it. The Towers have a subtle theme in the lobby with decor and maybe a picture of that theme in your room.
So there is the Adventure Tower which faces DTD on one side and the pool on the other. Then there is the Fantasy Tower which is where the main Lobby and check in is that faces the parking area or pool depending on the side. Then there is the Frontier tower which has views of parking lot or the pool as well. The map below may give you an idea. The Adventure Tower I don't think you can request because you didn't book a "View" room but a "Standard" that tower is my first choice and then the Fantasy Tower. It also doesn't hurst to ask for a free upgraded room when you arrive there I have done this several times and been upgraded to view room.

"what does "preferred std" mean?" it means preferred standard. So it is a renovated room but not a "View room" the view rooms either have a view of DTD or the Pool area.
Walking to the DL gates it is about a 10-12 min walk I would say, and about a 3-5 min walk to the Monorail station depending on the tower and your party.
