Staying at airport and visiting parks - crazy?

Hi, we are coming to Florida in March for my brother's 25th anniversary party and thought we would tack on some Disney days. Of course the dates are during spring break so Disney prices are high. Would it be crazy to stay at an airport hotel and drive to the parks each day? I have enough points to stay 4 nights for free near the airport. I checked Mapquest and it says it's about a 30 minute drive. I think it takes longer than that sometimes when using Disney transportation. I know we will have to pay for parking at the park each day. I reserved Coronado Springs for $780 for 4 nights but am still waffling.
So, does anyone have experience staying that far away? I need some pros and cons please.

live an hour away these days.

think it really depends when you are going - the first two weeks should not be too bad - if March 19 until March 31 - you are staying during a busy, busy time - Palm and Easter weeks. the only time that WDW has more guests is Christmas to NY,

now would also find out the counties around WDW have for spring break - have know both Orange and Osceola to have the same week - again it was crazy - now would add Lake, Polk, Seminole, Brevard also.

Are there any same *brand* hotels closer to the parks ...

that you could *possibly* get 3 nights on points .. plus one out of pocket

I've stayed at the Hyatt Place Airport for a few nights here or there when I had points to redeem since it has the best redemption value. Personally, it is fine for a few days in a row but I wouldn't enjoy it for a full week. For 4 nights it would be a workable option unless you want to take afternoon breaks in which case I say forget it. Hope you have a lovely trip either way. :)

Use hotwire or priceline to get a 3 or 4 star room near disney for $50/night. Save your points for a better location when nice hotels aren't easily had so cheap

This is a very crowded time at Disney and Florida. It could take an hour or longer to drive.

To me, the massive crowds at the Disney parks would make me shudder.

Have you considered some less-crowded alternatives? Perhaps Legoland? Waterparks (if the weather is good) Other Orlando or Central Florida activities that may have less crowds?
