Is that lame? I don't know....we are only because I can't justify spending money on a Deluxe when we won't be in the room that long..everyday....Anyone else with me? I have been told over and over how kind of tacky it is, but I don't think so...thoughts?

I don't think it's tacky at all. We were originally going to stay at a value for our honeymoon in June, but when the 4/3 deal came we decided to upgrade to the more romantic POFQ for just a few dollars more. It isn't the room that will make or break your honeymoon. You will have a great time no matter where you stay - you're married!! Have fun!

Personally I do not think it is a bad idea. I agree money is better spent else where such as nice dinners and stuff like that. just my opinion though

yeah the 4/3 deal came out like 2 months after we booked.....boooo! It's Ok though....I am guessing they will probably be doing it again....

We stay at the all stars a LOT and I've seen tons of newlyweds there! I don't think it's lame at all. I am all for spending your money on more important things (like Mickey ice cream bars ::yes:: )
You'll have a great time no matter where you stay.

Originally i would have dreamed to stay in a place like the Asante Suite at AKL, but for $2,600+ a night, you'd be silly to pay that. So i was thinking i wanted to stay in a nice room and thought about the Boardwalk Garden Suites- then that was $600 a night!! :scared1:

Because we are from the UK, originally we thought that a $16k wedding in Disney would cost us £8k (an amazing bargain for a Disney dream wedding!!), but now, because of the currency exchange, and with the dollar almost equalling the pound, its not so cheap for us now. Unless the dollar goes back up (to what it was, like 2 dollars to the pound), then we will really need to cut down all that we can (not very nice i know). Im praying that the dollar goes up again, so we can afford our dream wedding!!

I think we will stay in somewhere like All Star Music now (i have been there before and i loved it!) I dont think its worth spending hundreds of dollars/ pounds on rooms you wont be in all day!!

But go with whatever hotel you want!! Who cares what other people think? If other people think you should stay in a luxury hotel room that will cost a bomb- why dont they pay for it! You have a room that you want- not what other people want! Its your honeymoon! (sorry to sound aggressive- but it really is your decision if you are paying!!) A honeymoon isnt all about the accomadation- you will be in Disney- thats all that matters and thats all i'd care about!

We are staying at POP for the first couple nights and then moving over to Animal Kingdom Lodge for the last night. If you are to go with a value I would definetly recommend POP because it is only 1 bus for them rather than all 3 all star resorts with 1 bus. Me and DF agreed that we really won't be in the room that much for it to really count. DF loves the AKL. His eye lit up the first time we went to eat there so that is my suprise for him! Honestly all that matters is that you all are together and at the Happiest place on earth! Happy planning!

I switched my ressie after I booked when the 4/3 deal came out...it may be worth checking into a moderate such as POFQ or even CBR maybe, it never hurts just to ask at least so you can compare..

To be honest with you, I loved AS Movies when we stayed there, it made us feel like kids! On my last trip we tried POP and I just didn't like it...but loads of peeps love it!

If you are saving money by staying at a Value, hopefully you can treat yourselves to some special things that you wouldn't do otherwise (massages, tours etc.)

Wherever you end up staying, it will be magical because you're at WDW!!!

Hey, there's nothing wrong with the value resorts. Tacky? Who cares? They have awesome pools, haha! Plus, it's just really a huuuge price difference. I can completely understand why you'd choose this!

Aww there is nothing wrong with it.

We stayed at sports before and it was fine but if I had to pick I would pick POP only because I like the idea of the 1 bus stop for the resort and it's updated and they say the food court is like the best.

Keep checking on the deals though...maybe you can get lucky and upgrade to a mod.

We stayed at ASM back in Sept 07 and I loved it! We had a free upgrade to a family suite, maybe you can try that instead of a regular room.

I don't think it's tacky at all either! As of right now, we have ressies for 5 nights at the CR garden wing standard room with the 40% off PIN code for $168/night... but as we get closer to the trip, if we find that we need to save money, we would definitely do a moderate or even value if necessary. Our wedding cruise, we started out booked in a category 6 and then decided it just wasn't worth the extra $1000 for a veranda, so we downgraded to a category 12... too many other expenses keep popping up like $1400 for my dd's oral surgery, payment on braces, moving in April, new computer needed, etc... as long as we get to go, I don't care what category stateroom it is or what hotel our honeymoon is at (as long as it's on property, that's the only thing I don't want to have to "sacrifice!")

Who cares where you stay- you're at Disney:cool1: It's all magical! Especially if you're not going to be staying long you won't be spending much time in the room! We just stayed at POP last month and we loved it. We had always stayed at moderates before and this was our first time at a value resort... I thought it was great:confused3 We'll definately be going back. I LOVED their food court it was delicious... better than Coronado or Carribean Beach... I really care more about food than my room:lmao: Go for it and then have some nice dinners with the money you'll save:thumbsup2

I agree, anywhere disney is ok by me! I have stayed at *** and ASmusic and both were great! check out www.mousesavers.com they almost always offer deals on room at WDW. I have been eyeing the POP for a few trips now and I am thinking of maybe surprising DF with a weekend there for his B-Day around Christmas time. All you need is comfy bed to rest those feet after a day in the world :):thumbsup2

I don't think its tacky at all! We are staying at All Star Music in a family suite(granted we will have 2 kids with us). I think that staying in any thing other than that is way over rated anyway. Nobody ever spends alot of time in their hotel room so I see no point in spending the extra money. I would rather take that money and have a nice dinner after the ceremony.

My fiancee and I were originally intending to stay at the Beach Club until my fiancee lost his job. Now are plans are to stay at POP. It was not our first choice but POP has decent rooms and the food court is nice. It is not ideal by anymeans, but at least we are still planning to go. Do not listen to the people who say it is tacky. It is your Honeymoon and only you know what your priorities are. You will be there with your spouse in Disney World. It can't get any better than that! :)

This is what happened with us as well. We were booked for All-Stars Music for our honeymoon, but when the 4/3 deal came out, we upgraded to Port Orleans: Riverside and only paid about $100 more than we were originally going to spend for a full week at ASMu. We were 100% happy with ASMu, we just decided to take full advantage of the deal. We can't justify spending even more money for a Deluxe resort though. Yes, they're nice, but, really, every resort at Disney is nice and, like you said, chances are, you won't be spending a ton of time at your room anyway.

Do it! Spend your money on other things to makeyour trip memorable! You aren't going to look back on your honeymoon and say "I'm really glad I spent $350/night for that hotel room"!!! It's all about what you do on your honeymoon that will make it memorable.:thumbsup2

I say stay where ever you 2 are going to be happy. You have a very good point that you won't be in the room long enough to care so why pay a load of extra money that you do not need to. I like quite a few other people took advantage of the buy 4 get 3 free deal and got an extra 3 days at POFQ after my wedding cruise.

Besides it gives you something to look forward to on a possible Anniversary trip to WDW. ;)

i dont think any thing at disney can be tacky......lol and i've said at the value resorts every time we stayd on grounds only because you can spend your money else where. also i've said at all the all stars but i would have to agree that Pop is quite nicer.....since it was only bulit a few years ago...other wise Movie at the all stars is the newest one there. We are leaven on Sunday and we are staying at the sports because the rest were booked i'll letcha know how it is!!
