Staying at a value resort for the honeymoon?

We recently stayed at Pop in Oct & totally loved it , i cant praise the resort enough. My Df's a little gutted as we had booked our trip in May with Virgin for our wedding/honeymoon before we left for our wedding planning session & have booked to stay in Poly & POFQ. When we came back from the planning session he said how much he wished that we had booked Poly & Pop instead as we really could nt fault our stay there.
We did look in to altering POFQ to POP but to be perfectly honest there was nt a massive diff in price so figured it would be less hassle to change everything.
So if you re gonna book a value resort id def look at POP, its so much fun there, we ll def be returning for a stay at POP

I'm planning my mom's DFTW, and they are definitely staying at ASM to save money. The wedding is already expensive enough!

DH and I stayed at Pop for 2 weeks for our wedding and honeymoon and we loved it. We don't use the room for anything other than sleeping while at Disney so it seemed silly to spend extra money on a mod or deluxe when we weren't going to be there anyway. Do whatever makes you happy and don't worry if anyone else thinks it's tacky.

Staying at a value resort for the honeymoon?

Is that lame? I don't know....we are only because I can't justify spending money on a Deluxe when we won't be in the room that long..everyday....Anyone else with me? I have been told over and over how kind of tacky it is, but I don't think so...thoughts?

Have you considered a Mod? Much less than a Deluxe and much nicer than a Value.

i'm disneymooning at BCV. i don't think it's tacky to disneymoon at the value, but i'm surprised that you're saying you're not going to spend much time in the room. haha.

We stayed at All Star Movies for our wedding/honeymoon. Some of my favorite pictures were taken of us at the resort. It was so laid back, we felt very relaxed as we went to the wedding.

Go for it - we are staying the majority of our stay at POP when we go for our Honeymoon in July.

oh heck no its not!! we stayed at the sports for ours but thats because we knew we couldn't stay at the mod or deluxe but thats okay b/c theyre right we really didn't spend much time there at all...we only did 4 days should of done more! but thats okay we really didn't know! (i didn't know about the boards until after we got back) lol

Just a couple of suggestions for staying at a value resort. First request top floor and second request a room on the far end of the building.

We love POP and the only problem I have with it is the pitter patter of little feet running by your room at 6 AM on their way to a character breakfast. However, if you are in the last room this reduces this problem.

DH and I planned an anny trip after we had DS. We were low on funds so we stayed at the POP. We kept joking the whole time that we really weren't going to stay there and even when we pulled through the gates I kept saying "ok, take me to the WL!" Ya know what? The trip was great! We got a room with a king bed and it was more than enough room for DH and I (we left DS with grandma). We really enjoyed the vacation!

We stayed at Pop Century for most of our Wedding/Honeymoon trip, I really wanted to stay at AKL originally but after looking at the difference in price we decided on POP. We had already stayed there before and loved how it was so bright and fun. It kind of suited us better! And with the money saved by not staying at a deluxe resort we afforded to go on DCL for 3 nights for our honeymoon!

We are staying at POP for our disneymoon and I dont feel tacky at all. That's just that much more I get to spend on other stuff. We thought it was dumb to spend a crazy amount to just sleep there for a few hours!! Pop is awesome too!

I'm disneymooning in May and we are staying at POP. I have to admit at first I was a little unsure, I've always wanted to stay at GF. We looked into it, but seriously those prices are way high..too high for us right now atleast. So we made a promise that one year for an anniversary, before we have kids, were gonna save up and go back and stay there. Now that its getting closer to the wedding and our disneymoon, I could care less where were staying..I'm just getting super excited about going and being there and being on Disney property surrounded by the magic 24/7.

And don't let people give you a hard time about it. Someone will always have a negative view about something, I've heard it a million times over and over again on how silly it is to take a honeymoon to disney. IMO its one of the best places!

I couldn't agree more.....I'm fed up of people who turn their nose up at the thought of Disney, or that you're some sort of child....it's fun, exciting and a great holiday. Much better than sitting on a beach reading a book as far as I'm concerned - but if that's someone else's cup of tea then fine. Tans fade, memories live forever.....

We stayed at Port Orleans for our Honeymoon and it was really nice. I probably would have went deluxe if we were only going to Disney but we did a week in St. Lucia also.

FH and I were planning on a Value. He still is still thinking we're going to be at Pop, but I looked at renting DVC points, and it's only a couple hundred dollars more. It makes it a lot cheaper then a deluxe but a little bit more then a moderate. I picked the Beach Club because of the location. If you are worried you won't enjoy staying at a value. it's another option. I've seen lots of "just married" buttons and ears at the bus stops at Pop.

We stayed at POP in May '07 and LOVED IT! We were able to get a room facing the Hourglass Lake on the third floor (50's section, I think) so it was really quiet up there. We were actually able to see some fireworks from right outside our door too.

We just used our room to sleep too and it worked for us.

We were going to stay at Pop for a few days and then move over to AKL CL. The 4/3 deal came out and we saved a ton of money so we changed the whole reservation to AKL CL, but Pop will be where we stay on every trip other than our honeymoon. We stayed at Pop last Jan and loved it!

I am really glad someone else posted this! I was just about to post the same topic! We were planning on going to Jamaica for one week but can go to Disney for 2 weeks for cheaper if we stay in a value.

Someone said that they were surprised you wouldn't be spending a lot of time in your room on your honeymoon....

My response to that is... it will be just as good in a value as it would in a deluxe....

Not tacky at all!

My DH and I stayed at Pop Century for our honeymoon. It was WONDERFUL!!! It just fit our own personal style more than any of the other Disney resorts. I love the fun, bright colors; the in-your-face Disney icons; the whole theme and atmosphere of the resort! Next week will be our third stay there! I just can't see the point of staying at a deluxe right now; we don't spend hardly any serious time at the resort right now. Maybe after we have kids we will stay at a monorail resort to be close to MK. Other than that... We will be at Pop Century!!!
