Staying 9 days, to switch or not to switch

We will be staying at one of the DVC villas, getting a two bedroom for 9 days in the Summer of 2003. We can't make up our mind if we want to stay at BWV (our home resort which we have stayed at before) or WLV. Here is our breakdown - Mother, Father, Stepmother, and four kids (13, 11, 7, and 14 months). The three older kids and mom and dad have already been to BWV. We will probably only be spending 1 day at MK, 1 day at AK (that night at MGM), one day at Typhoon Lagoon and one at Universal's IOA leaving the other 41/2 days to hang out at the pool and relax. Is switching from one resort to another worth it, does Disney move our stuff, or, since we will be going every year, just stay at one for the duration? We will be flying in and not renting a car. We have and will do the entire, netgrocer, cook all the meals in the room thing as well. We need a good veteran's opinion on if it is worth moving. We also realize that our kids as teens will want to be at our home resort most of the time BWV when they get older. We are confused. Please help!

Since you will be there for 9 days I think it would be OK to move. I personally would stay put at one place, but that's me :). The Disney luggage fairies will move your stuff. I assume they can even move your refigerated goods since all DVC resorts have places to keep your stuff cold until your room is ready.

I would say that when you are in the "doing" part of your vacation, stay at BWV, as the transportation from there seems a little more prompt than from WLV. Once you're in the "hanging" part of the vacation, I would go to WLV, because I just think it's a wonderfully relaxing, serene place....seems like it would be a great place to "hang".

If it were me, I'd spend the entire vacation at one resort. I'd hate to pack everything up (including food and refrigerator items) in the middle of the vacation and be without a room for most of the day. Having recently traveled with a 5 year old and 16 month old baby (my nephews), I sure would not want to be without a room between 11 and 4. If you are the mother of the children, who will be doing most of the packing up and unpacking work? (If it were my family, the answer would be MOM). You will all need some things when you are between rooms. Who gets custody of that during the day?

Even though Disney will move the luggage and supposedly keep the refrigerator items cool during the process, there does seem to be an opportunity for things to go wrong here. Plus, moving will be on Disney's schedule and that may or may not be convenient to me!

I know that I can always visit another DVC resort for the day if I want to see what it is like. Pool hopping would certainly be an option for either BWV or VWL. Plus we'll be coming back and on the next trip, maybe I'll try out one of the other DVC resorts. I have 40 years to work them all in!

As you may have gathered:), I am not a fan of changing resorts in the middle of my vacation. To me, the vacation/relaxing time is just too precious to waste it checking out, packing, moving, checking back in, wishing I had a room to go to, and worrying about whether or not my stuff is being properly taken care of. That said, many people do it and like it.

Whatever you decide, have a wonderful trip!

Just a slight consideration. If you stay put for the 9 days, you'll get a full cleaning on day 4. ;)

We just stayed 9 nights at the WL in Oct 2001. Originally we reserved for 6 nights, on the 6th day we added on another 3 nights.

I don't even like to change rooms during my vacation! I would stay put this time and schedule a stay at WLV for another time. Nine uninterupted days sound wonderful. JMHO

We've never switched before, but we will this October. We are bringing my aunt and uncle down; they've never been to DW, and we want them to experience both OKW and BWV.

So, 4 nites at each. From what I've read, it sounds pretty painless.

And, I get to experience massive rooms PLUS a potentially long walk to the elevator IN THE SAME TRIP! ;)

IMHO - STAY PUT! you have MANY years to go to other resorts and although my home resort is VWL - My DD loves the pool at BWV and with the different ages of people going BWV is good - more to do in walking distance. :)

We are also scheduled for a 9-night stay next Easter and was wondering if we should switch. We have always switched but have decided to try to stay at BCV the entire time. I am interested in learning more about 'netgrocer' as we will not be getting a car this time. How does that work and is it real expensive?

We did a switch for our 9 day stay and loved it..... BUT we had a car. That was a big deciding factor for us. Although I hear Disney is good about moving your stuff, I prefer to move it ourselves.

Either way it will be a great vacation!

Why not ask all the parties involved?

I personally like to switch resorts. A whole new world to explore. I always feel like I did/seen more and you get to know if you would like to stay at that resort again or not.

Just my 2 cents,
