Need recent reveiws. The ones online are horrible....tell me Disers is it that bad?

I haven't heard any bad recent reviews on here. We last stayed there in 9/09 and are booked for December. What are you hearing so someone can address those specific issues with recent experience? Also most review sites are a sounding board for those that are never happy. Unless its multiple reviews about one particular issue, I'd probably ignore most rants on tripadvisor and Expedia.

I look at the reviews on those sites but what I look for is amount of good to bad. If the hotel has a lot more good reviews than bad ones then I take the bad ones as someone with an agenda or just isolated incidents.

True, but I think most infrequent travelers are more likely to go back to those sites to complain than to say "it was great" or anything positive actually. Our stay was nice and pleasant but nothing extraordinary, I wouldn't think about heading to a travel site and say, "yep it's clean!"

Just stayed there for 2 nights mid February. We stayed in a King Suite. The rooms were nice and clean, but the HVAC unit was terrible. Very noisy and created this weird almost airplane compression environment. We would have switched rooms (which they offered) but we were doing a 1 day trip and were in the parks most of the time. It was bearable for not being in the room much. The parking was fine, but the wi-fi was spotty. Overall, just OK. My biggest reason for not staying there again was the distance from DLR. It's close enough that you don't want to drive/take shuttle, but just far enough that the walk back at night is exhausting. And I'm OK with the HOJO distance. Portofino is just a *smidge* too far.

The most recent reviews online were bad....those from a couple years back were fabulous. I am just concerned if the hotel has gone down hill.

Thanks for all the responses!!

I booked here got a pretty good rate with two free adult 3day park hoppers. Cheaper than booking through their website.

When are you going as I was looking at staying there and wouldn't mind the free adult 3 day park hoppers!!!!!

I put free but they are part of a package...probably more like discounted. Sorry I was still half asllep when I posted.

4 nights family suite 2 adult park hoppers probably saved $300 with the package.

Hi, we just got back 2 days ago from staying in a Kid's Suite at the Portofino. I had similar concerns after reading the reviews, but we found the hotel to be clean and the staff was friendly. The a/c unit was noisy, but not to the point that it bothered us. The WIFI was not great...although we did find one location in the room where we could consistently have a stable connection. We requested a room on the top floor, as I had read that the noise between floors could be irritating. We didn't have any problems with hall noise or noise from neighbouring rooms. All in all, if the price was right (which it was for us this time), I would not have any concerns in staying at the Portofino again. Have a great trip!
