Stay/Play/Dine Question

We went this past January during the s/p/d offer at POP with the QSDP. We are planning another January trip in 2014 and it looks like it's going to be s/p/d again. We are thinking be would like to try a Moderate resort this next trip....leading me to my question. Are you tied in to the regular DP when you book a moderate under the s/p/d deal like you are when you get free dining? We really prefer the QSDP and do not want to book ADR's and such. IIRC, when I called to book last year the CM did quote me a $ for the s/p/d at POR with the QSDP (at my request), but now I'm second guessing myself if that was even really possible under that promotion. Anyone book the s/p/d at a mod/deluxe and "downgrade" to the QSDP? Thanks! (or if any of you with the PIN code are calling would you mind asking the CM if this is possible? thanks!!!)

Keeping in mind that S/P/D promo allows you to purchase the Adult dining plan and the kids Dining plan prices.
QS would be $14.32
TS would be $17.16

For less then $3 more there is far more value in purchasing the DDP.
When we book our dinners we tend to do late dinners 7:30-8ish and book them outside a park. That works best for us so we know we don't have to have around a park all evening.

You can downgrade but I don't think you can upgrade

Thank you for your response! I wish the regular DP worked for the dynamics of our family...maybe in a couple of years when the kiddos are older it will!

It's hard to plan your days ahead of time with kids. We now choose our restaurants that are at the resorts or DDT. This way it does matter which park we go to in which day.

Does s/p/d work for the deluxe dining plan?

TIA!

It does but you'll be paying child price for whatever dining level is attached to your resort, but full upgrade prices. You'll still be paying the upgrade of 60ish for each adult per night if going from DDP to the DXDP.

Did that make sense? It sounds easier to understand in my head.

So, say you are staying at a moderate resort and want to use the stay/play/dine offer, but want to upgrade from the regular dining plan (that is attached to the moderate resort) to the deluxe dining plan. Do adults pay child's prices for the regular dining plan and then an additional upgrade charge that is the difference between the cost of the child's regular dining plan and child's deluxe dining plan?

Thanks for the clarification!

Adult DXDP $99.97 - Adult DDP $56.94 = $43.05 (Cost to upgrade from DDP to DXDP)

plus cost of DDP @ kids rate $17.16 = $60.19 for the Deluxe Dining plan per person per day approx under Play/Stay/Dine.

Thanks for this! I think I was hoping that the cost to upgrade would be the difference between the kids prices for the DXDP and the DDP! Wishful thinking!

You cannot downgrade a given dining plan. You can only upgrade it. However, you can use a TS credit for a QS meal anywhere on property, so you can use the regular DDP as a QSDP. Not the best use of the plan if you are paying for it, but if it is how you prefer to eat, and you are getting a decent deal, it can work.

Instead of starting a new thread, I thought I could just ask this here.

the Stay/Play/Dine

Play = Park Tickets same price as children
Dine = Dining plan price same as children
Stay = 4 adults in one room wouldn't incur the extra fees for more than double occupancy?

I think they would still charge the extra adult fee, but not 100% sure. I think the "stay" part just refers to the fact that you have to stay on property in order to get the "play" and "dine" parts at child prices.

Yeah I was thinking that too, annoying that I cannot use this pin online to test prices, i can only call with it.
The title of the flyer in the email was "Adults play, stay and dine at kid's prices with the purchase of a select vacation package!"
So it sounded like the "stay" part also ment that you wouldn't get charged for more than 2 adults in a room.

Thanks for the quick response tho.

Ah, this is what I was afraid of! I am scared to death to try and use TS for QS meals :worried:. My fear is that it would be a big hassle and we would get turned away at the register or we will be standing there forever while the CM fiddles around trying to figure out how to convert the credits. I understand that it isn't the best use of the credits for sure (maybe we would use the TS for 1 sit down meal at the most), but I'm figuring even if we did a room only discount at a mod for 6 nights in Jan. our savings would only be ~$227. No way all 4 of us could eat for that for almost a week.....

Sounds like the only way to know for sure if you can "downgrade" to QSDP under the s/p/d deal is to call and ask once the deal goes live......just wish you could stay at a mod/deluxe and not be tied into the regular DP (I know...I'm in the minority here!! :rotfl:)

The did spd last year the same way as free dining. No downgrading. However, using the TS as a QS won't be a problem at all, so I wouldn't fear it.

I don't remember this discount from last year, but it sounds promising! What dates do you think it's for? Is anyone willing to do the math for me? Family of five, 2 adults, 1 Disney adult (DS11) and two children (DS8, DD6). Six day base tickets. We would most likely stay at POR or get two rooms at a value. I wasn't planning a trip until next August, but if the discount is good enough...;)

6nights/7days POR rack rate (Garden View Jan 22-28)= $1217.26
6 day base tickets x 5 people at child's price tickets = $1491.00
DDP $17.16 (child's price) x 5people for 6 nights= $514.80

Total: $3223.06

Not sure if I did that right, but that's how I've been trying to figure things for myself....

Yep thats right.

Just take the room cost from the disney booking website and add on X amount of children dining and park tickets.

So does anyone think the s/p/d offer that has been sent out in PIN's will go public? Also what if my ds 9 wanted to get the adult ddp? Everyone would already be paying child prices so I guess we would just tell them or what??
