The Stay Play Dine Discount for 2018 travel dates was released on 10/3/17. As many of you are aware, I've been able to "crack the code" with the help of Don @ Mousesavers.com each of the past 3 years and determine how the savings actually work. Without further adieu here are the results for 2018:

VALUE RESORTS:
2018 Discount
= 40% off of the Quick Service Dining Plan with NO additional room discount

For Comparison sake:
2017 was 40% off dining with NO additional room discount
2016 was 40% off dining plus a VERY small room discount ($1.75 off per night we believe)
2015 was 55% off dining plus a small room discount
**(FYI There was never a discount on tickets on this promo)**

MODERATE RESORTS:
2018 Discount
= 45% off of the Disney Dining Plan with NO additional room discount

For Comparison sake:
2017 was 45% off dining with NO additional room discount
2016 was 55% off dining for the first adult plus 45% off dining for each additional person (adult or child) plus a VERY small room discount ($1.00 off per night we believe)
2015 was 55% off dining plus a small room discount
**(FYI There was never a discount on tickets on this promo)**

DELUXE RESORTS:
2018 Discount
= 45% off of the Disney Dining Plan PLUS an additional room discount *in some instances
*The additional room savings can be $0, I've seen some small savings at $1.75 per night (Yacht Club), modest savings $7.25 per night (Contemporary), and large savings $40.50 per night (Grand Floridian) OR $17 per night (AKL Savanna View). I believe these "savings per night" may vary based on your resort, dates, room category, and nights of the week; SO it seems it will be impossible to pinpoint all the options there.

Prior years for Deluxe resorts was the same as moderate except the room discount portion may have been slightly larger than moderate.

EXAMPLE OF YEAR OVER YEAR COMPARISON

Here is an example of the SPD deal in 2016 vs. 2017. Our example family is 2 adults, a child age 7 and a child age 1 (free). They are staying 6 nights in a standard room at CBR at the end of Jan/early Feb with 7 day base tickets and the regular Disney dining plan.

In 2015 under the SPD deal they would have paid (all approximate):
Rom: $1,057
Tickets: $1,014
Dining: $376
TOTAL: $2,447

In 2016 under the SPD deal they would have paid (all approximate):
Room: $1,122
Tickets: $1,049
Dining: $458
TOTAL: $2,629

In 2017 under the SPD deal they will pay (all approximate):
Room: $1,151
Tickets: $1,161
Dining: $524
TOTAL: $2,836

In 2018 under the SPD deal they will pay (all approximate):
Room: $1,172
Tickets: $1,293
Dining: $583
TOTAL: $3,048

So with the price increases on rooms, tickets & dining, combined with the lesser discount amounts...the example family pays $212 more in 2018 (vs. '17) and $207 more in 2017 (vs. '16). Over the 3 years analyzed the same exact discounted package goes up $601 which is approximately an 7.6% increase annually.

Also just a quick plug - if you don't visit mousesavers.com often you're missing out. These guys have an AWESOME page on all things Disney World, Disney Land and Disney Cruises. They have exclusive discounts and fantastic content on how to save money. I highly recommend their site!!!

I have some preliminary results:

So far, I'm seeing 45% off the dining plan that comes with the room type (quick for value, regular for mod/deluxe), plus a room discount that varies from 0%-10%, with pricier rooms more likely to have a larger discount. If you upgrade dining you don't get a discount on the upgrade fee.

So basically, for Values you get a discount of $24 per adult, $9.50 per child, per night, plus maybe a small room discount (0%-5%). For Mod/Deluxe, you get $34 per adult, $11.50 per child, per night, plus a room discount (0%-10%).

I still need to look at more rooms; this is based on only a handful of test cases. I'll be curious to see if SouthFayetteFan comes up with the same basic structure.

I've only evaluated Value Resorts so far but my initial finding on a small sample size is exactly 40% off of quick service dining with no other savings.

Caribbean Beach 1/3-1/6 2 adults with 2 day tickets 1 park per day Pirate room
Reg Price $1736.87
SPD Price $1533 (forgot to write down the change)
Savings approx. $203

Seems to me just a discount on dining as well.
Dining would have been 452.94 and 45% of that is $203.82

Your calculations in past and present are right on the nose SouthFayetteFan !! Thank you for you hard work and dedication to saving us all some hard earned money :)

I just redid my numbers because value and deluxe weren't matching. I think it's 40% off the quick service for values, and 45% off the standard plan for deluxe. I haven't looked at a moderate yet.

So my numbers are $34.97 per adult, $11.59 per child discount per night (plus variable room discount) for deluxe. $21.00 per adult, $8.70 per child discount per night (and no room discount that I've seen yet) for value.

As an example, I see 0% room discount on Animal Kingdom Standard View, but 10% off Savanna View (plus the dining discount above). Or actually not 10%, but a hard $54/night, which looks like someone eyeball rounded 10% off a $547/night room.

All above numbers are for Feb 5-8, but I've checked a couple other ranges and it's held up.

Hey Don...I've done multiple scenarios at Value Resorts (both rooms and family suites) with 3 adults, 2 adults 2 kids (both under 10), 2 adults 2 kids (one over 10, one under 10) and in ALL of them the savings has been exactly 40% off of dining. Are you seeing anything different at values?

Ha! Posts crossed; yes, I think you're right about the 40% for value.
I think they put that wrinkle in on deluxe with the additional room savings just to drive us mad! I'm moving on to moderates for now!
