Hi, wondered if anyone could help me. It is my partners bday whilst we are out in Orlando and as we are staying off property, well on property but not in a disney hotel and I was thinking about booking into a v. nice on property hotel but i just dont really know where to look. Everywhere seems sooo expensive... anyone have any tips?

Have you checked the prices and promotions directly with the US site, or even phone them and ask if they have any special promotions. Try and make it a weekday night as weekend rates are more expensive. Any particular resorts you have in mind?

I'd like to stay at Fort Wilderness and do Hoop Dee Doo and MK in the day time.

In one of the cabins? I am guessing you are a couple, I may be wrong, the cabins at Fort Wilderness are meant for more like 5 people *I think*, which is why you are finding the price high.

My choices have come down to the following:

CBR
POFQ
WDW Dolphin

I have never has the chance to stay at a Disney Resort so I really dont know which would be the best.

Why don't you go for POFQ as a couple? It is a small, intimate resort (compared to the others Disney resorts). You don't need a full on restaurant at the resort if you are doing Hoop de Doo.

Otherwise the Dolphin could be nice. It is not a Disney owned resort, but I think the only perk you don't get is that you cant add the DDP, which you can't do for one night anyway through Disney UK.

Will you have a car?

Go onto www.portorleans.org. It is a wonderful site and full of photos. It is a sister resort with Port Orleans Riverside and while a separate resort, you can use any of the amenities between the two.

Another vote for POFQ! Like others have said its nice and intimate. It has the nice music playing in the evenings and is lovely to walk around and i always enjoy a boat ride to downtown disney :)

The dolphin is good, the beds are amazing and i love the location! But for me its now too much of a business hotel and lacks some of that disney magic.

Wilderness Lodge could be a good choice, they often have good rates on expedia close to the dates you want, and then you're close to FW for HDDR.

I don't know if I'd bother for one night at a Mod with your plans, as they are all quite far from MK and the journey time to FW will be long.

WL I think you can just get a boat.

I know the garden wing at the contemporary can be pretty reasonably priced too.

Or you could rent points and stay in VWL or BLT?

I wouldn't bother staying in a Mod for one night either. I agree that Wilderness Lodge could be a good option. :thumbsup2

So I've had a look on Expedia - night of Sept 2nd- went by your ticker date so this is a date you'll be there on. :goodvibes:

AKL is only £132

WL £152

BC/YC £166

CR garden £205

Poly £224

Floridian £254

Also - looked at BLT and VWL rates on dvcrequest.com for that night you'd be:

BLT - $169 (£112) - that's standard view.
Or £221 (£147) for Magic Kingdom view

VWL - $169 (£112) aswell

The BC/YC rate is pretty awesome! Wish I could get it in March!

If it were me for one night and I was wanting to be in MK I'd probably go for the Poly, but as you want to go to HDDR I think that WL looks a super deal.

Good researching Victoria! Some of those prices are awesome. I'd go for WL/VWL or BLT (MK view).

BC and YC rates are pretty good. What is nice about those resorts is proximity to Epcot and also the Boardwalk

Yeah, its hard to say no to BLT at those prices.

I think if I were OP I'd go for WL over DVC resort though, as the chekc in times are quite late for DVC, and you want all the hours you can when it's only one night.

Also, with a one night booking you always have the slim chance of an upgrade - which is never going to happen at a DVC.

For £30 I would definitely take that chance!

If I was doing just 1 night I would probably go for a MK resort to watch wishes from the resort. I think the poly looks amazing.

I would rent points from the rent/trade board, would be cheaper an you can get the owner to see what's available before you book!
