Stay off the Scale Challenge - Week 2!

This has been a really good week for me so far. I have stayed focused on my healthy eating ...... went swimming three times so far this week and I have managed to stay off the scales.

Starting to feel more positive that I can stick to this healthy eating plan and lose the weight that I want to lose.

Great job everyone!!!! Can you believe that this is Day 10? Woohoo!!! Let's be strong.

Beth - your story cracked me up!!! I can just imagine you standing on the scale with your eyes covered. WTG!!!!

leahannpen - we're sorry to see you go but can understand. We have a WW program here at my job and I remember when I was on WW years ago. The scale is a big part of the process. I wish you well with WW, I know it's effective for many people. I think there are about 20 people at my job on it and they have lost a combined total of almost 300 pounds in their first 10 week session.

Minniespal - ride that good feeling! You can do this!! You can be successful and you can stay off that dang scale.

Laurie - great job and super fantastic attitude! I look at my scale every once in a while but I just ignore it. I measure or try something on instead. We can do this!!!!

Everyone have a great weigh free day! :wave2:

Hello everyone. I am another day off the scale. Feeling good. Miss knowing the weight, but I hope it will be all good by the end of the challenge

I stink. Please add another 7 days to my challenge end date. I did it. Didn't even think, just got on- half asleep, before I remembered the challenge. Good news, I lost the weight I gained plus a couple pounds extra. Bad news, I ruined my challenge. I will be a buck Private forever. Under the waste basket the scale goes!!

Melissa - First off all, don't kick yourself missy! No one gets demoted in this outfit! You have earned your Corporal status. Just pick up from here and move on. You may not have had a perfect week but we're not stripping you of your rank - do you really think you can get off that easy?. So you'll be a Corporal for an extra week, as Kim Possible would say, "no big". And by the way, congratulations on your loss!!!!

Putting that scale away may help make it a little less tempting. I may have to do that one myself. Hang in there girlie!!!! :sunny:

Sheree - you crack me up. Our thinking mirrors each others so much. I miss knowing what I weigh too. This is a tough challenge. I feel like I'm in a boot camp! Talk about "stepping outside your comfort zone". I'm about as far outside mine as I can be right now!!!! I do want to weigh but I am determined to be in control. Thanks for walking this road with me!

And thanks to all our other challengers! This is tougher than I thought it would be but you are all holding on strong. When I get weak and think about taking a peek at that number on the scale, I think of all of you!!! ::yes::

Thanks for the kind words, Lisa. Unfortunately I have yet to make Corporal ( I started late remember)so, I will accept my extra week as a Private. But I swear I had to get my son to hide the stinking scale because it is sooooo tempting to me. Now I have a dr appt tomorrow and will get weighed there. Since I know the weight it seems silly to close my eyes and have my nurse laugh at me. But after that I will get through this!!

Still doing good about the scale. Did not weigh today.
But I cheated on my diet. :o I had olive oil/apple cider vinegar on my lettuce today. I swear it was only a dribble. I just do not like it with no dressing. I took away my cute little clippie too.:( I went 15 days without cheating. On my 2 days off I did good. I had a reward at night. I ate very healthly.
Ahhh pooh.

Lisa, it is funny how similar we think. I imagine that scale. You know what's helping keeping me strong, I don't want to step on the darn thing and it hasn't moved or it moved up and then I'll be mad at it and me. I'm not taking that chance:teeth:

Well we are almost at the end of another week. I have managed to stay strong and avoid the scales. It has been difficult to stay off them because I have started to notice the difference in my body and really wanted to see if the scales say the same.

These last two weeks have proved to me that I can carry on with this plan and that I will succeed.

Anybody else find that they eat smaller portions and less approved snacks when they aren't weighing in??? I swear I have had next to no snacks or dessert because I am so afraid I will be gaining and not know it. Anyone else doing the same.
By the way, I haven't weighed again since my one slip up. So for me, I figure in the last 9 days, I only slipped once. (I stopped weighing before my challenge week officially started, then goofed during the actual challenge. But I am getting stronger.)

I will be in my size 5's in no time!

Good Morning!
I decided to try on a pair of 16 jeans to see how I was doing. Guess what I'm wearing them to work. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: I'm still going to be wearing the 18's cause there more comfortable. But I couldn't resist. I can even sit down in them buttoned. I did not weigh I just felt like my 18's were loose lets try. Glad I did!
Going to work with my healthy snacks and feeling good about it.

Good morning gals!

It's so nice to come here and read how we are all staying so strong. You guys just don't know what an inspiration you each are to me!!!!

Melissa - I forgot that you started after the rest of us! You'll make Corporal next week you just have to be strong. I guess like you said, it would be silly to close your eyes at the dr.'s office when you already know what you weigh. But you are doing good girlie so keep it up! Those size 5's are within sight! I definitely notice that I eat smaller portions, since joining this challenge, especially at dinner. I am also very careful to have 1 or 2 sugar free creamsicles for dessert (only 20 calories each) instead of the no sugar ice cream or chocolate treats I used to eat. Since I'm not weighing, I don't want to do anything that could contribute to weight gain so I guess that's another advance of not weighing!

July - I see the cheat no your diet didn't affect you too bad. Congrats on getting into those size 16's!!!! Isn't that a great feeling? When I first fit into a size 16 a few weeks ago, I came out of the dressing room at Lane Bryant crying. The sales lady thought something was wrong with me and when my sister saw me crying she came over and hugged me and started crying which made me cry even more. The sales lady thought we were having a collective breakdown. I was sobbing so that I couldn't even tell her that they were tears of joy! You go girl in your size 16's!!!!!! See, we don't need no stinkin' scales!!!! :hyper:

Minniespal - I so agree with you that it makes it even more difficult to stay off the scale knowing that you obviously have lost because your clothes are fitting looser on you. I had a coworker friend of mine tell me that she swears I am a lot smaller now than I was two weeks ago. I'm not going to cave and weigh though. We've only got another 2 weeks and a few days, if we have made it this far, we can go the distance!

Now for today's question:

Since you are not weighing yourself, how are you keeping track of your progress or what subtle body changes have you noticed?

Some of you have already mentioned how your clothes are fitting looser. I have noticed the same thing. My size 16 slacks that I bought about 7 weeks ago are noticably baggy. My collar bones are more pronounced as well as I can feel my knee bones. I think everyone knows about my wedding band slipping off my finger unnoticed by me last week and I can wear a size L teeshirt that my Dad gave me last year that I couldn't even begin to fit. What about you? What have you noticed that's different from two weeks ago?

losing inches a total of 4 since the challenge started! I am going to make Corporal yet! It's that time of month so i have no desire to step on the scale!

It is another day, and another day off the scale. I am going strong, but still want to know the number

Lisa, it is funny you asked that question. I measured around my waist last night, because I needed to know something. I lost an inch off my waist. I don't want to take the rest of my measurements, I just wanted to know something.

Stay strong everyone.

Sheree - I so agree with you! I just gotta know something is going right. I took my measurements and I've lost 3 inches from two weeks ago. It's killing me not to know but at the same time, it's kind of a freeing feeling to that we have taken the power from the scale and given it back to ourselves. I don't like to have "things" controlling me and that scale was controling how I felt about myself. If I saw a loss I was happy with myself, if I stayed the same or saw a gain, the world was against me and I felt like a big fat loser. Staying off the scale makes things easier on me emotionally.

Sue - Woohoo!!!!! Congratulations on losing 4 inches since our challenge started. You are right, you'll make Corporal yet!

Apart from the physical changes ~ The biggest change that I have noticed is in how a view myself as a person. Before I started eating a more healthy diet I really didn't like myself that much. I find myself making more of an effort now and tomorrow fr the first time in months I am going to have my hair cut.

I suppose it is learning to love the person within so that as my body changes I can enjoy the thinner person that I will become.

Florence:

Your quote: Apart from the physical changes ~ The biggest change that I have noticed is in how a view myself as a person. Is the best thing I've read in days.

We all get so hung up on the number on the scale that we forget that there are other things to celebrate. I know that thing that keeps me going is that I feel so much better eating the way I do now than I used to eat. My energy level stays consistent and I don't worry about getting the afternoon yawns after I eat. When I do slip up and have more refined carbs or sugar than I should, my body feels so horrible that I have that extra incentive not to poison myself again.

I lose weight (actual lbs) very very slowly. My clothes, however, continue to get looser even when the scale shows no loss. The other physcial benefits for me are my skin is clearer and my hair and nails are growing like crazy.

Everyone - stay away from that scale and find something else to notice beside that number.

-Laurie

Hello everyone. Well, I've managed to stay off the scale yet another week. I would love to say that it's getting easier for me to stay off the scale, but it's not. I would love to just know the number, even if it's not that important. Oh well

I'm off:wave:

:grouphug: I couldn't have said it any better! Losing weight is helping me phyiscally, but I need to work more the the metal work so I'll appreciate the new "thinner" me. Thanks for the inspiration! .....and I'm still staying away from the scale :p

Well another week has rolled around again. I have managed to stay off the scales for two weeks now. I have exercised more these last two weeks than I have done all year and I feel great. Went and got my hair cut yesterday ...... Something new and exciting to go with the new bod !!!!!

Have a great week everyone.
