We now have 12 brave WISH souls starting our challenge on July 5. There are over 180 hits on this thread so you lurkers and any on the fence, just jump right on over from the "dark side" and join us. We can do this for one month and free ourselves from our scale addictions! :hyper:

Sue - I really like your idea to gauge your progress over the next month. I'll be measuring myself and hopefully purchasing those tight size 14 jeans I tried on at LB last week to gauge my progress.

Doe - I know what you mean about having a rocky relationship with the scale. I weighed myself last night and I was up 4.5 pounds. This morning it's gone and it took the 1/2 pound that I had gained with it (thank goodness) but I just can't stand this rollercoaster emotionally anymore. I don't want my day to be made or broken by a number on a scale! Glad to have you with us!

July - We're glad you're doing the challenge with us! Congrats on the 2 pound loss that is wonderful. If you want to weigh yourself one more time (okay, or several times) before the July 5 start date so you can have something to compare after the challenge is over, feel free!

Oh Lisa,
Isn't nighttime the absolute WORST time to weigh in??? I always regret it!!! I think at the end of the month I will buy a cool new digital scale...my old one probably isn't even accurate any more from all the times I've kicked it back into the bathroom closet!

Count me in. After the July 4th challenge, I want at least a month scale free. Great idea Lisa.

I'm thinking about it. I'm somewhat concerned that I'll gain too much if I don't have the scale to let me know that I'm up a few pounds and need to try harder. Will let you know. It's a creative idea though.

Hi all :wave2: please count me in for the challenge. When I first started out on this new lifestyle I didn't have a problem with weighing myself more than once a week. Now that I'm in my healthy BMI range and getting closer to my goal I find that I'm weighing myself more often, and because the weight isn't coming off as quickly --or not at all right now!!-- it's more difficult to deal with. So I figure that if I can stay off the scale for a month then hopefully when I do weigh myself I will see a loss.

I won't be posting for the 1st week(vacation at WDW!) But I wish all my fellow challengers strength not to step on the scale!! SCALE BAD!!! I feel kinda like I am cheating the 1st week - I'll be at WDW and no scale plus I would never weigh myself on vacation! thats just wrong - especially if you have a couple extra carbs along the way;) .

GOOD LUCK!

See you all next week
Sue:wave2:

Count me in, I need something to motivate me to stop stepping on that scale everyday (or more:earseek: )

Yippee!!!! More new recruits!!!!

Welcome to Privates Strings, catherine and Hannosmom!!!!

We currently have 15 challengers. If anyone else would like to sign up, please post here and let me know. I'll be starting a new thread on July 5th so we can start off fresh. The challenge ends 30 days later on August 3rd. You can post daily or at the very least weekly to let us know how you are progressing.

I wish everyone the best with this challenge. At the rate I have been weighing myself lately, I'm going to need all the support I can get to stay off the evil thing! ::yes::

Hannonsmom - we are happy to have you! I know what's like to step on the scale several times a day. We'll beat this thing together! :)

yasuern - enjoy your vacation! You'll be having fun with Mickey and friends and the majority of us will be here resisting the temptation to weigh in! You are right, scale is bad!!! We'll see ya' when you get back.

catherine - like you, I didn't have this problem when I first starting losing weight. I could weigh myself once per week and was fine with it. This sort of sneaked up on me. It will be nice to see a significant drop (hopefully) on the scale after 30 days.

Gator Kate - we'd love to have you! Just let me know over the next couple of days if you want to join in.

Strings - always happy to have a fellow journaler! I'm looking forward to a scale free month too!

AuroraluvsPhillip - Yes, weighing yourself at night is worse than weighing yourself 10 times during the day. I can't believe how much your body weight can fluctuate. It's kinda funny actually. I have a digital scale and it's neat. I think it's a great idea to treat yourself to one after our challenge.

:bounce: Okay it starts tomorrow! And I couldn't resist I weighed at Publix tonight. I know its not the best time to weigh but I was out of town this morning not near a scale.
And guess what I have lost another pound :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc yipee for a total of 3lbs. So maybe when this is over next month I can have a clipee.

Happy 4th everyone

July:tongue: :bounce:  :bounce:  :bounce:

Ok I weighed myself yesterday for the last time for the next month!! I'm feeling really motivated to do this, and I am hoping that my reward at the end of this challenge will be the green 125lb clippie :hyper:

Good luck to everyone, remember stay off that scale! ::yes:: We can do this together :grouphug:

Lisa,

Count me in. I started my diet again today. It will be so nice to just stick to a healthy eating plan without worrying about the scales.

I find that I do really well but once the scale starts showing a zero weightloss or a weight gain I start to get disheartened.

So ..... here is Private Florence reporting for weighloss program.

Can you still take one more? I hope I'm not too late! I have a very bad habit of weighing myself before I work out and again after I work out.....and any other time I get a chance. So, not weighing for a month will be good for me.

Private GoofItUp ready to start off today if the troops are still accepting people!

Sorry I've been so busy the past couple of days that I haven't checked for new recruits.

We are happy to have both Private Minniepal and Private GoofItUp joining us making our total participants 17!!!! I'll stop back later and update the official list.

Today's the big day and I hope everyone is off to a good and scale free day! It was hard for me this morning but I resisted.

I did weigh in for the last time yesterday and was pleased as punch to see a whopping 3 pound loss! That brings my total weight loss to 68 pounds and me at my lowest weight in over 20 years at 214.5!!!! I'm so excited and hope to see a nice loss for the month of July.

I think I'll start a new thread starting tomorrow but for today, please feel free to post your weight loss from yesterday or come to our thread if you feel you are getting weak!

I know we will all be successful and I look forward to a fun challenge! :)

Alright Lisa, here we go. My weight was 148.7 to start off the challenge. I'm excited and so nervous at the same time. What a challenge this will be, but I'm up to it

Hey Lisa! It's Private Hollyann reporting for duty! (This is like being in the Marine Corps again!) I haven't weighed myself since Friday, but I'm at 152. I do have a question, though....I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow, and she's monitoring my weight and diet fairly closely, due to a medical issue - so I know she'll weigh me. Does that count? Let me know, I'm happy to put my $5.00 in for Make-a-Wish!

Take care and good luck scale challengers! BTW, should we do a cool clippie for this? I don't know how to make one, or I would!

Official weight before taking the challenge: 120.25

Looking forward to seeing where I am in a month and not before then! :D

Ok, my official weigh in is 160 - ugggh, I've been maintaining for so long and now a 2 pound weight gain.... oh well, it'll be nice not to see that scale!

Well I didn't know we were going to tell our weight. Uggh.
Yesterday I weighed in at 187.

funny I found out a coworker is not getting on the scale for a month either
she said that at the gym she constantly watches her weight
and is depressed when she doesn't loose

I started a new diet that says you loose 7 lbls in a week. :D I won't know..

July:teeth:

July - we don't have to tell our weights. I'm sorry. You didn't have to share with the group if you didn't want to. :) About your new program, I can understand. Now that I'm back on track and lost 3 pounds in a week, I'd love to know what my weight loss will be next week but we can be strong! These 4 weeks will go by fast (let's hope :)).

Hollyann - don't worry about your doctor's appointment. You can either close your eyes when they weigh you or if you are tempted to take a peek, then we'll have our first challenger making a contribution to a charity. It's totally up to you, no pressure at all!

Good job everyone - you are all doing so well as our first day comes to a close. We can do this!!!!
