We are planning to stay at the RPR in Orlando in August for 5 nights so would qualify for the "stay more save more" offer.

It works out at $223 per night but I noticed that the offer finishes on 3 January.

Now, as I've never stayed at their hotels before I don't know what they are like for offers - is it likely to reappear for next year or should I hang on and wait for the price to drop?

Any expeiences would be useful, thanks everyone!

We were thinking of doing this as well, I didn't realise it closed 3 Jan, I thought it was on for much longer previous years. We have used Annual pass rate the last twice (1 pass for both Aug trips) which worked out cheaper for us. This year we want to go for 5 nights so this rate works well but we have noticed that you get SMSM rate with complete orlando & for our dates it works out cheaper at £500. We booked SSR through Charter as they were cheaper than our best quote (CO) & included $150 gift and & usual Disney bonus's, so going to ring them to see if they can better the £500 as well. Sorry not much help with your original question, might be better to put it on US resorts part.

Stayed there a couple of years back, I would never pay $223/night to stay there, we paid $152 and that was my limit, didn't think it was worth so much. Ontop of that was parking & internet access.

Yep, I wasn't massively impressed either. FoL was obviously a nice perk but overall I wasn't overawed with the place. Oh and we did pay about $220 for the exact same night as Wayne :(

:goodvibes

The room condition that we had was way below standard and dispite reporting a number of issues a few times, they were never fully addressed. I did get a few dollars refunded when I submitted an online customer survey and an apology from the RPR house manager. I would return however it would have to be at a discounted price

We stayed at RPR for a week last year and absolutely loved it! We also managed a Stay More, Save More rate but for alot less than you're being quoted.

I assume you're looking at booking through the official website? If so, you do know that if the price goes down you can call up and have it amended to the lower rate. I assume things haven't changed but it's also fully cancellable up until 24 hours (I think) before arrival. Anyway, I just wanted to put forward that you can always book now at that rate and then if a better deal comes along have that applied, or if not then cancel if you absolutely have to. Hope this helps :goodvibes

We are looking at 5 nights at RPR in August but the rate I'm getting is $172 a night. Even bearing in mind that doesn't include tax, $223 seems a bit steep. I didn't realise the offer ended 3rd Jan though. Might have to think about booking soon if that's the case.

It seems the beginning of the month is dearer than later in the month. I have e mailed them to ask if there are any AAA discounts but they haven't replied yet  I'll ring and see if there are any but I may well book it anyway and then like the OP said, if something better comes along, I can cancel and re-book.

Another thought I had is that we stay somewhere nearby but cheaper but I really wanted the FOTL facility. Can this be purchased with the park ticket?

No, you only get FOTL passes with a stay at universal hotels. You can buy a Fast pass but you can only use it once per ride, i don't think it's worth it. I also had a disappointing stay the same year as Nigel but the 2 previous stays were brilliant, think they were fully booked & understaffed as housekeeping were working well into the evening. It was the year Harry Potter opened so I think they will have things sorted by now. When we checked out & were asked the usual "did you enjoy your stay," we replied "yes, but not as much as previous stays," she prompted us as to why (only small things but lots of them, mainly to with housekeeping) & credited our bill. We want to stay 20-25 Aug, cheapest so far £100 per night.

Wayne, we're looking at 6-11 August next year.

The dates are fixed for us as we go on our cruise on 11 August and then on return we are booked at the Beach Club so these first few days are ideal for doing Universal and others without having to use our Disney tickets.

AAA rates for your dates are showing at:
$ 223.20 $ 223.20 $ 223.20 $ 223.20 $ 243.20 Average $ 227.20

These are same rates as Annual pass holders, and standard Stay more Save more rates. Hopefully prices will drop in the new year.

just checked your dates through Quidco- Hotelopia - £829.00 - 10% code = £746.10 - 13% cashback = £649.09 = 129.80 per night. Maths is not my strong point so you would need to check this. My dates 20-25 Aug are £98.00 per night.

Almost correct, you would not get 13% off the full rate, they knock off 12.5% room tax first then give you 13% of the lower price. I used the exact same deal in Oct.

Hotelopia are also reasonable on cancellations, only £15 if you cancel before 29th July, I once cancelled POR when I found a cheaper rate at AKL using AP discount, they refunded promptly (still gave me cashback, that was never reclaimed)

That's good to know, as I have always booked through Loews in the past. If Charter can't match it I will go ahead & book.

Wayne, I only checked on Quidco because I'd seen your earlier posting about it & was presently surprised that it was on again, thanks for that.

The stay more rate should run on through summer, although different discounts will come out especially closer to easter.
The reason early August prices are more expensive than later in Aug is because around aug 14th starts Value season rates which are a lot less than Summer rates.
Like PP said booking direct allows you to change your rate if a cheaper rate becomes availablem still to early for tripleA rates etc so keep watching.
have been staying here for 7 years and love the resort, which we spend most of our time at rather than the parks.
