Stay in one resort or split your stay?

We have done it a few times on long stays with little kids. Was no problem at all. We are doing a 16 night trip next summer and gonna split it up again. The swap day is not a park day. That might be the key for us.

I used to promote split stays. We never had any troubles. However, on our last trip we planned a split stay. A lengthy one at that. It involved 5 nights at BWV, 3 at VWL, and 3 at AKL. The last night at AKL was also on cash.

Moving isn't bad but it may screw up your dining plan if you get it

Here's my story. We went down early, friends were coming in 5 nights after we arrived. We skipped two sit downs to save up for Cindarella's Royal table and Mickey's backyard BBQ (gross food) ....What happens at midnight the night you move is that your food entitlements from the DDP expire so you have to start with a clean slate....You can only imagine how the rest of this story goes.

I started at the Conceirge at BWV, they said call member services, while I called member services they said go to the front desk of the resort, so I kept member services on the phone put them on speaker and was then told that I screwed up (dining is only for your length of stay......at that resort is the fine print they don't tell you) ....well they couldn't help. We ended up rushing around and found a Signature dining option at Artist Point the night we checked in to VWL since they were expiring at midnight. We ended up paying cash for CRT and used two entitlements for the BBQ.

I thought it was all taken care of until our last night....on cash...we ate at Japan as part of the Candlelight dining package for preferred seating. I gave him my room card that said DDP right on it an they said it was all out. I paid cash and called the front desk of the AKL while waiting in line for the Candlelight. Some guy there was able to credit me the cash and they use my dining plan entitlements to pay for the dinner, however I was going to have to stop by the front desk to change room keys. He cancelled my reservation and then rebooked it ans said my roomkey would not work....

I was astonished they were not able to budge/edit/add any food credits to let us just keep our schedule at the BWV.

Also, the dining plan isn't that great of a deal anymore since they changed it.

Long story short...........be wary of your ADR if you are splitting stays and using the DDP.

Anyways, we're staying home from now on and probably cooking in.

We did it last year, and it wasn't all that bad at all. We were changing from a 2-bdrm to a studio, so we'd have had to pack and move anyway. It gave us the opportunity to try by VWL and BCV on the same trip.

Now, if I were going to be in the same room type the whole time, I'm not too sure I'd do it again. It did take quite a while to pack and unpack that extra time.

If I were faced with the option of changing resorts or having to cut a trip short (because of non-availability to be in the same resort for the whole time), we wouldn't mind doing it again.

Next year will be the first time we will have done a none split stay, 14 nights in a 1 bed at SSR. We have always moved around the resorts in the past but this time we have decided on staying in only one. Maybe for the first time we will actually unpack our suitcases.
