Have any of you stayed at Grand California, DL resort or Paradise pier before a cruise? I am going to be leaving on Saturday, March 14th from the Port of LA for a Mexican Riviera cruise. I am trying to decide if I should use my DVC points for a night stay so that we can have jump on the morning for the day of the cruise. I guess we could sit out by the pool in the morning (after a nice breakfast) or walk around Downtown Disney etc. I am coming from San Francisco.

What do you all think? Should I concider this?

Personally I wouldn't. I would save them for another trip. We stayed last year offsite before a cruise and the morning we left we didn't have time to relax or anything before we left to go to the cruise terminal. It takes about a half hour to get there from DLR not to mention the time it will take to get on the ship. We like to arrive fairly early to enjoy lunch on the boat. The year before we stayed closer to the terminal and found it much easier to get on. There is even a crown plaza down the street from the terminal that gives you a free shuttle. Hope this helps and enjoy your cruise.

Also which cruise line are you taking, the ones leaving from San Pedro or the one leaving from Long Beach?
I would not stay before. I just returned from a Mex. cruise from San Pedro and we went to Disney the day we returned instead.

We're staying at the Crowne Plaza in San Pedro before our cruise in April. Since we are arriving late Friday night and cruise on Saturday its not worth the torture being that close to DL and not being able to go!! We get home Sat before Easter with a family party on Sunday, so theres no time after either.

Oh well, we are gong to Mexico for the first time :cool1: , and DL will still be there in November for our Thanksgiving trip!

We stayed at the Doubletree in San Pedro last January for a cruise that left for Mexico. It was great - had a free shuttle to the pier, etc. Have fun on the cruise! :thumbsup2
