Stay away from MK on Mondays on Spring Break

We just got back from 3/14-3/19 trip and my one BIG piece of advice for spring break travellers is to stay out of the Magic Kingdom on Mondays during spring break season. I've NEVER seen it as busy as it was on 3/15! 40 minutes waits for Pirates?? 90 minute waits for Haunted Mansion:eek: Yikes! We came backTuesday afternoon and things were much better.

We will be there on 4/5 (Monday) as that is only day my sister can join us. It will be her 1st trip! We typically go on Tuesday, but she only has two days off work and she is driving up from Clearwater. Oh, well, at least we'll be at Disney! Actually, during this time, is there really a less crowded day?

We arrived just before park opening and went straight through to do all the Fantasyland rides. The first couple hours weren't crowded at all. Noon to 4pm were the worse, then it got better. As long as you are diligent with fast-pass usage you should be able to do all you want to. The park was also open late (11 PM) and around the time of the 1st parade, things really started thinning out and got better.

I was there on 3/15 as well and all I can say is never again. The crowds were horrendous. We got there early enough to walk right onto Haunted Mansion, but we wanted to do it later in the day as well except the lines were unbelieveable. We figured the rain would send some people home, but it didn't seem to make a difference. There was even a little thunder and lightning after Wishes but that didn't seem to send anyone home either. And from what a CM friend told me, lightning actually hit the treehouse and made a very big noise (we were in line for Buzz and it scared me to death) but even THAT didn't scare anyone into leaving. All in all, I had a great day, I just wish we could have gone on some rides a second time.

I wonder if this will hold true the Monday I'm at WDW. The reason I say this is Apr 10 is Easter Sunday and I anticipate a lot of people will opt for MK that Sunday possibly making Monday a little less crowded. I was thinking of AK for Easter Sunday and MK for the Monday. maybe I'll rething and do MK on Tuesday or Wednesday.

That was after dark, right? We were walking up to the Haunted mansion when there was that huge crack of thunder, and lightning at the same time! Everyone almost hit the deck, it was so loud!! The CM at the front of the walkway ducked with the rest of us, then stood up and said "Welcome to the Haunted Mansion, folks!" Loudest thunder I've ever heard in my life!!

The crowds were insane that day, and the rain didn't do much to deter anyone. The rain on Tuesday morning was worse though--we were at MGM that day. Miserably wet.
