Anyone know of any. I see tons on the budget board but none for Canada. Want to make some extra cash for Disney...

I have never been able to find any. I hear about a lot of people doing things at home, but like you, I am never able to find these jobs. I have heard about people working for PIzza Pizza or Swiss Chalet, from home taking orders over the phone & internet. I have never been able to find them.
If you hear of any, I would love to know as well.
There are just so many scams out there, it is so hard to know what is legit.

Just bumping, as I am curious as well, and would love to find a legit, not cost me money, stay at home job. Even just enough to have a little extra spending money. If anyone knows of any, it would be great!

I have the answer!!!

www.LiveXchange.com

Ive been looking at it for the last couple weeks, but the only jobs that are currently available are for current employees or members or whatever.Ive gone on the waiting list for several.
If anyone can find the one for swisschalet and pizza pizza let me know!

I don't know if I trust this one. They say membership is free, but it requires you to buy some equipment yourself which appears to be quite expensive. You are also buying it from the company, so it seems as though they are just looking to make a profit from selling you computer equipment without guaranteeing you a job.

I'm just basing this on what I read on the website. I don't know if anyone on here has found employment through this site before. If so, I'd be interested to hear their opinion.

I agree seems like a costly start up fee and monthly charges. You'd have to make sure you make enough to cover these charges but who knows how much work you would get.

Not all of the jobs require you to have all of that stuff that they ask for. I think the scanner thingy is more if you are going to be accepting credit cards from people.

The pizzapizza one is called Toucan, but apparently people aren't too happy with it. You have to go to Scarborough for training and I simply can't do that myself as I do run a daycare and am looking to just make a little extra money on weekends and evenings

braydensmom, that is exactly what I do. Run a daycare throughout the day and am trying to find something to sub that income. I make great income from daycare. My problem being, I have all school teachers children, so when holidays, and summer comes I have no income. I have looked at a few things, but can't find anything I feel comfortable doing. I don't want to be "buying" into something. Anything that says that, is just wrong, in my opinion.
If you do it, i would love to have your take on it!

Just watch the number of children you babysit ... the Ministry of Children and Youth Services as well as Public Health are very aware of private home child cares.

??? and where did that come from.. I am sure they know the laws about doing home daycare, they want other side work?:confused3

I am actually an early childhood educator, so I am very aware of the numbers ratio. I am not crazy enough to overstep them at all. It's to bad that some other daycare providers in my community would observe the child/teacher ratio! Why would I risk someone getting hurt, and me getting sued, it is worth taking the chance. Hence the reason I am looking for something to back up my income! But thanks for the tip!

I am looking at the website for Toucan and there is also another one called Contractxchange, that have a lot of work from home telephone jobs for many companies like The Shopping Channel, CAA, Telus. Anyone have any experience with any of these?

Stay at Home Mom Jobs for me:

I do several things for income that allow me to be home with my family, lots of my jobs include my family so we can be together even when I work. There are the things I do;

* Work in a before and after school program where I bring my son and my daughter is a volunteer. Mornings [7-9] After School [3-6] I'm home around 6pm to dinner and tea made by dh. He also gets the kids ready for school in the morning. It's a great job and I made excellent $$$$. PM if you want to know my annual income from this job. It's my steady job and income and I adore it! I get to work with children and be creative at the same time!

* Read Tarot Cards for parties and privately. I did years of free readings to get REALLY good at it. I love it as it connects me with the collective consciousness. Again PM me for income info.

* Make jewelry and other practical artworks and sell them at Craft Shows with my family. PM me for income info.

* I used to do ebay, but not much lately.

My Healing Arts works is word-of-month. I'm doing a newcomers show in April and two private readings are booked for April too.

I would love to teach a workshop helping people focus on their passion and create businesses from their passions.

Blessings, Sandra

Sounds like a few of us could use one of your workshops Sandra! :rotfl:
Right now I'm focusing on the kids, but looking ahead to next year when my youngest starts JK. My dh keeps telling me I should start my own business. Problem is I don't know what!

Women are very successful starting small businesses because they usually start small and grow as needed. If you stick with a good idea, you'll be fine.

I stayed home full time with my daughter until she started kindergarten. She started in September and in October I started teaching fitness, yoga and art classes part-time.

Look in your parks and rec course offerings and see if there is something you feel you could TEACH! Call the centre and sell yourself. You'll be doing something you like part-time plus making contacts with your students.

If you like sewing, offer the centre a sewing course. Tell your students you also teach one of one from your home.

I worked for the City of Mississauga teaching art, yoga and fitness for years. After a Disney trip I offered to teach a course about Disney to adults. For 3 years, I taught, "How to Plan Your Walt Disney World Vacation" in the City Hall. I made $150 for one night of talking about Disney.

Mississauga is the 11th largest city in Canada. If they are willing to listen to my course ideas, any town or city would be willing.

Think of what you like to do and/or what you are good at and teach it.

Thanks for the encouragement & suggestions Sandra. I did teach a preschool music program for one year through our local rec department. Unfortunately we live in a VERY small town (pop. 6000) and the pay was little more than a token amount. I only received $150/group of kids for each three month session! It hardly made my time and effort (especially with the amount of prep time I needed) worth while. I think it worked out to something like $15/class.

I think I'm leaning towards somethning I can do out of my home. I won't teach out of my home however. I did previously and with two kids now it would just be too disruptive, especially since my husband will be going on shift this summer. I might have to bust out my sewing maching and start making cute little Minnie dresses to sell on etsy.

That's an excellent idea.

Do you like to write?

There are lots of writing opportunities in magazines. The big mags pay about $1 a word for newbies for small features.

Go to Canadian magazine websites and look for writer's guidelines for details.

Funny you should mention that. I was just thinking that I should have added that my true passion is writing and when I have more time I would really like to pursue is freelance writing. I've just started writing a monthly column for our local paper and have had a few articles published on a parenting ezine. I haven't been paid for any of this yet, but it does give me credentials/clips for if I start querying bigger publications.
