Stay at CBR - skyline question

We'll be at CBR later this month. Want to take skyline to EP for EE at 8:30. What time does the skyline open? I assume there will be a line until it does, so how early should I get in line to be one of the first on the skyline when it actually starts moving?

If we're going to HS but not planning to rope drop Slinky or Rise (thinking ToT or MMRT), what time do we need to be at the skyliner? Like if we get to skyliner line at 7:30, will we get to the park by 8? Can I hold a spot at skyliner for straggling family members or is that a big no-no?

7:30 is tight. You need to leave time for line at CBR. Ride to DHS. Walk. Security. Line to get in. It can happen but everything has to go well.

You can get in line but once open, the Skyliner line moves constantly and fairly quickly so you won’t want to be separated by much.

Holding a spot in any line for straggling family members is a no-no in my book, but others have other opinions.

I stayed at CBR during spring break in 2023. We never waited in line for skyliner more than 5-10 minutes, except leaving the park at close.

There is a Joffrey kiosk near the CBR skyliner that is great for grabbing coffee.

we stayed on this end of CBR and we were always there right as it started running, usually the station cleared out before people started coming from pop/AOA, but if you wait until 45 minutes before EE there are lines.

with 10 person cabins running full, the line moves well.

Saving a spot in the skyliner line is VERY common in the mornings before it opens. I don't think it's a big deal because 95% of the time at opening they're only loading 1 party at a time anyways so no one is taking anything away from anyone. I've also never heard or seen anyone say anything negative about it. In fact; I've seen multiple groups joke about who the straggler is vs. early morning line saver person is in each group, but as scrappinginontario mentioned you just have to make sure everyone's together before they start loading otherwise the rest of your group will probably miss you. Also keep in mind that as with many things at Disney what they post as opening is not always accurate. I'd plan on making sure your whole group is ready and together at least 10 mins before the posted opening time for the skyliner.

When did they change to only putting one party in the skyliner at opening? Last time we stayed at Pop they definitely put people together then and only one family at a time during slower times. We always got stuck with other families at open and close.

I don't think they've "changed" anything since Covid, but we've gone multiple times (most recently Oct.) and will be back next week at Pop and we have never experienced them load more than one party on the skyliner at opening (sometimes once we get to Caribbean Beach they do), but we've never seen them do it at opening. Now, we're usually one of the first 10 families in line, so maybe after a certain point they do or maybe depending on the CMs working they do, but again we've been going mult. times a year for many yrs and we've never experienced it.

We've absolutely experienced it and would say it's the norm during closing and/or other parts of the day, but have never seen it at Pop at skyliner opening.

That’s great! I am here now but won’t be going to Epcot until later today if we can go to blizzard beach when this rain clears. Idk if we will go anywhere at opening or not but I always prefer to be just my party in the skyliner but we are a party of 2 so they can easily add another party to us.

I'm local and ride the skyliner frequently. During the non-rush times you'll get your own car. During busier times, you'll share. There is no defined cutoff time. It's just what the loaders do when they see the length of the lines.

Don't hold spots for stragglers, it's very annoying for people waiting in the line and kind of rude to expect people to move out of the way to accommodate the rest of your group. One person, maybe, but more than that, nope. Especially when you get to the roped part of the queue and then you have to try and "push" past people already in the line. You will definitely get nasty looks and possibly some comments. Keep everyone together if it's a busy time. And as others have mentioned, at certain times of the day, you will share a gondola if you are a smaller group.

Today we got our own all trips (during afternoon) but they did put a couple of parties together that were just ahead of us for some reason. We were the only people behind them. It definitely looks like operator discretion. I imagine we will be with others leaving Epcot if my daughter ever gets out of guardians

Ugh we were put in with a family of 8 to make a group of 10. They had a couple of kids but older than lap kids so it was crowded. I did not like that. I would have been fine with 4 or maybe 6 others but put with that big of a group was very awkward.
Edit to add but it was better than a bus crammed full
