"Stay Another Day" offer when checking out from DLH?

Each time in the last year that we've stayed at the DLH or other on property hotel, they've included a "stay another day" offer along with our itemized check-out bill.

I am trying to find out / remember what that offered rate was. I believe that it was around $139 for the DLH our last time in February? I also wonder if it is based off of the rate we had or if it's the same flat offer for everyone?

I have never taken advantage the offer, but am thinking about gambling this next trip -- the offered rate was better than anything I can get right now, and I'm looking for 2 nights instead of 1.

Anyone here checked out of DLH recently?

We received that offer last fall for a rate of $129 (DLH). When we stayed at DLH in Jan, we did not receive any offers to stay longer. Maybe because we were in one of the newly remodeled rooms?

ETA: After receiving such an offer from DLH last year, we asked if we could get something like it when we stayed at GCH. After a lot of phone calls bouncing around, they came back with an ok for us to stay another night at a reduced rate. So, even if you don't get the offer, go ahead and ask if they will do it for you. Tell them you got it last time and were wondering if they would do it this time.

** UPDATE **

I'm back from our trip ... as fate would have it, we did NOT receive a "stay another night" offer. Ended up that I couldn't sleep, as I was waiting for our checkout envelope to be slipped under our door just to see if the offer would be in there!

I won't go with this plan again

My wife went down to the main desk to inquire about staying another evening (hoping to get the rate we had been offered previously).

This was actually our first experience with a rude cast member at the DLH - she was terse and wanted to charge us more for a Sunday night (not at capacity) than the rate we had on Saturday (should be cheaper in any case). The cast member next to her overheard and intervened (thank goodness). However, we still could only book the extra night for the standard AP rate, not the "stay another night" rate unfortunately.

Another thing to add: We arrived very early on Saturday morning to request a renovated room. The cast member said that she couldn't even access that tower and couldn't entertain our request. We were a little disappointed by that as well.

All in all, we had a great trip. It actually is nice to still be able to open up those huge sliding glass doors and enjoy the breeze and the views -- Soon enough, we won't be able to do that.

Thinking back, it seems to me that whenever we have only stayed one night, we did not get the offer, but when we have stayed several nights, we do get the offer. :confused3

I have been tempted several times, but since my DH has already taken off several days of work to go, feel he can't "call in sick." Now, if they'd give the offer after only one night...might be a different story! :lmao:

Sorry you had a rude CM - we have only encountered one in all our trips - we arrived at the PPH and my youngest DS was sick as a dog. They didn't have our room ready and we asked if they could get us into ANY room (we had reserved a view room) - Nope, couldn't do it we were told. I kept checking back and finally after a shift change, got a different CM who, after I said I just want to get my DS into a bed, immediately said they had view rooms available on a lower floor than where they originally were going to put us and could move me into one of them.

When we stayed for one night in January, we were upgraded to one of the new rooms and received the "extra night" offer with our room statement. I was tempted and looking back I wish that we would have taken advantage of it...
We have stayed onsite many times (both single and multiple nights) and that was the first time we got the "extra night" promotion.

I actually think it's quite a random and mysterious process (who gets the 'stay an extra night' offer and who doesn't) - much like the equally mysterious 'who gets a special PIN code offer and who doesn't' subject. It probably largely depends on whether the hotel is booked or not, and if they have a lot of availability and can afford to let us have an extra day at a highly discounted rate, how many rooms they actually have available (because they might have to move you if you take the extra night), as well as what day of the week it is and if it is during a really busy holiday period or not. Also, the discounted amounts that they offer for the room are not always the same for everyone. They differ, and they might increase from year to year. One person might get a $109 offer for PPH, but the next time it might be $129.

I have gotten those 'stay an extra night' offers a few times and I have not been able to take advantage of them on any of those occasions, darn it!:headache: I know I am forgetting about a couple of the occasions off the top of my head, but the two instances that come to mind right away were the time when I stayed at GCH for one night only, on Thanksgiving weekend, and saw the offer in the envelope that was slipped under my door the next morning. I don't remember what the discounted amount was. The other time that I can recall off-hand was when I stayed at the PPH for 2 or 3 nights, and that 'extra night' offer was for $99!!!!! (Believe me, I doubt I will ever get a $99 offer from the PPH again!)

Then, the one time I was finally ready and able to take advantage of an offer if I were to receive one (in December 2008), they didn't offer it to me!:headache: One of the CMs at the GCH told me that they "never" make those 'stay an extra night' offers during holiday periods or really busy times.

One thing I have noticed is that, almost certainly, when my check-out bills have been attached to the outside of my door handle (to where I have to open the door to get the envelope), there is no offer for me. However, the envelopes that have included "the offer" were slid under the door. It's almost as if they wanted to make sure I saw the paperwork right away so I could decide if I wanted to take advantage of it or not - so they slid it under my door for me to see as soon as I woke up. When the envelope was hung on the outside of the door so that I couldn't see it, it was as if they hung it there because there wasn't anything they needed my response to right away and so it didn't matter if I saw the bill immediately or not!!:rotfl2::rotfl2:

We arrived very early on Saturday morning to request a renovated room. The cast member said that she couldn't even access that tower and couldn't entertain our request.

Was the whole Dreams Tower not being occupied? I hope it's up and running for our trip mid-June. :scared1:
