Stay and play without the parks?

So what do you do when you stay at WDW, but don't go into the parks?

I am curious because my DH and I go all the time and 3/4's of the time, we don't even go into the parks. We're headed over tomorrow (we live relatively close) to bike around Fort Wilderness and probably have lunch at one of the Epcot resorts. i may even stop off at Downdown Disney and do a little shopping

What do you enjoy about WDW outside the parks and what do you look forward to the most?

We love hanging out at our resort for swimming, renting surrey bikes & boats.

DD & I love shopping in DTD.

We really enjoy exploring the different deluxe resorts and eating in the restaurants. It's also fun to shop at DTD. We're not waterpark people, but we played mini-golf at WinterSummerland last time and that was fun, too.

My husband and I love dining at other hotels on property when we went for our honeymoon. It gave us the opportunity to "explore other resorts" and "dine around the world" at the same time... fusing our two favorite things (after going to the parks). We spent 12 days there and we spent at least half the time at other hotels and eating lots of great foods. It was lots of fun!

This is thread is perfect timimg! We have been to WDW 8x since 2001 and continue to love it. Our next trip in April will be on the Platinum Plan for the sole purpose of enjoing everything else WDW has to offer. I compared the Platinum rate with other "all inclusive vacations" and found it comparable plus I know what to expect from Disney. A magical experience!

We love Blizzard Beach and spending the day at Stormalong Bay when we stay at YC. In fact, I could plan a trip that was just staying at YC, swimming at SAB, going to waterparks, and shopping at DTD. I could be perfectly happy not going to any of the 4 parks......but I don't think that would fly with my kids. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the parks, but I could skip them and not feel like I missed too much.
