I keep reading how "shabby" the rooms at YC/BC are looking these days.

Does anyone know if the current deluxe resort refurb schedule includes the YC/BC? I'm talking about the "soft goods"/mattress/t.v. upgrades that the Poly, WL, and Contemp have received. I'm curious to know if/when these resorts will be receiving new stuff.

I just got back from the YC and I thought the room was fantastic. We had a water view and the room was in excellent condition and the beds were so wonderful...I'm making hubby go out with me this weekend and buy one just like it:lmao: It didn't have the flat screen tv...but then again, we never once watched tv. Honestly, I didn't find the room shabby at all.

We went in September 2006 and our room was great, not shabby looking at all. :)

Disney does great job of keeping their rooms looking nice.
They replace carpet, mattresses, bedspreads, TV's whenever needed.

The last few years they have been totally refurbishing (getting an all new look with more updated furturiture, newer, larger Flat screen or Flat panel TV's for their resorts.

Some the newest refubished resorts are Poly, CR, WL, and All Star Music.

All Star Music is undergoing a refurbishment of all of the rooms and is slated to be completed by June 2007.

Here is a website with photos of the newly refurbished rooms at All Star Music.

Look at the Jazz Inn section with new posted:

Have fun at Disney wherever you choose to stay!:wizard:

Good to hear about the YC rooms looking good. I admit, most of the "shabby" comments I've read are in reference to the BC rooms, but I just assumed they'd be about the same as YC since they are sister resorts and probably share the same refurbishment schedules from the past.

I just stayed in a refurbished room at the WL and I LOVED the new look, and I really liked the flat panel t.v....not so much just because it was larger, but because the new armoire that held it took up MUCH less space on the floor than the old ones and still had the same amount of drawer space. I have seen the credenzas at the YC and they are really bulky and take up a lot of floor space! I think the new mattresses at WL were also SUPER comfortable and wonder if they have the same ones yet at YC...finally, I like the new bowed out shower curtain rods at the WL...they added SO much space to the shower and I thought it was a nice touch. Just wondering if/when the Epcot resorts will benefit from some of these changes.

The rooms at the YC/BC were totatally refurbished 3 to 4 years ago. It's rumored that rooms at both resorts are scheduled for a soft rehab within the next year. Rooms are scheduled to have the flat screen tv's installed which have going into all of the other deluxe resorts. The rooms at the Boardwalk Inn are also supposed to be getting the flat screen tv's.

I don't get the fuss about the Beach Club rooms. They seem fine and not at all outdated to me.

Disney is slowly, but surely, adding these big flat-screen TVs to the rooms. I couldn't care less - I don't watch almost any television at all and certainly don't want to do so on vacation...but I guess people must want them because they are putting them in everywhere.

I'm sure the BC rooms will all have them soon enough...I just hope they are in something that can cover them, so I don't have to look at a big, ugly screen.

I'm not reading about "outdated" looking rooms, I'm reading about worn out, stained carpeting and bedspreads, marks on the walls, stains/tears in the window coverings, mold in the bathrooms, etc. I have no problem with the actual "look" of the rooms, but if I am paying +$300 per night, I want a room that is up to par, know what I mean?

Plus, I actually DO watch some television during vacation. I like having the t.v. on while I am getting ready in the room, and at the end of the day before bed. Plus, we'll have two little ones with us (and our portable DVD player) and they will most definitely spend some time watching DVDs we bring with us. The new flat panel t.v.'s look great and are MUCH LESS intrusive than the old style ones. All you see is the screen, you don't have that huge bulky t.v. just sitting on top of a dresser. When the t.v. is off, all you see is a black panel, and it's not at all ugly.

As far as the TV goes ... matter of opinion. We also watch tv, flat panel would be nice, but doesn't affect our enjoyment of our resort either way.

The rooms at the BC are wonderful. I've never experienced anything but a beautifully upkept room. No stains or rips, certainly no mold! I agree about expextations for a resort priced at $300+ a night. One of the reasons we stay at the BC is becuase those expectations are so consistantly met.

Where did you read this about room conditions? Was it Beach Club or the Villas, as there has been some concern about the Villas showing their age prematurely.

If want the new TVs you will have to book Contemporary, Polynesian or Wilderness lodge at this time.

Well, the TV is just an normal TV. There is nothing wrong with it.

Like I said earlier, the room was great, no mold, no stains, no tears, the carpeting was great, the curtains were great. :)

But...if you are so concerned...perhaps you should not stay at the Yacht and Beach Club? It seems to be worrying you a lot. :)
