What area of the ship is better if you are worried about motion causing sea sickness. I have a held reservation for a secret porthole room. However, I want to be in the part of the ship were motion is the least felt.

Thanks

I am very prone to seasickness, and have Vertigo.

We were midships on deck 8, and I barely felt motion in our room. Looking out the porthole outside Parrot Cay one night sent my head whirling, and I was very close to having a protein spill...so it seems the closer to the water the more prone I was as far as looking out.

Hope this helps.

I am extremely prone to motion sickness, but with the help of Bonine I am just fine on the ship.

I have stayed in most of the areas of the ship and really cannot tell a difference. I have stayed in a Secret Porthole Room and was just fine - once I took my Bonine (aka meclazine)

The higher up you are the more you will feel the motion. Try for mid ship also. Bonnine really works great- my son used to get 'green' from flying but was fine flying and sailing with bonnine., stay away from the patch it has too many side affects. If you are really worried about motion sickness you can get a shot from your dr before you leave home or from the dr on the ship.

In my case I had just the opposite experience., I felt the motion more in the lower decks.

Thanks everyone.

what type of shot are you talking about? I do plan on seeing a dr before I go because I want to be prepared. This will be a trip without our children and I want to enjoy it and not be sick.

high deck, midship

Midship staterooms are usually the first to go, so get one soon!

I agree, high deck, midship is the place to be (just cruised in 7558.) I always feel the movement more in the restuarants and theaters. Meclizine was available for free in the Health office last week.

Hmmmm....

Conventional wisdom has always said that the lower in the ship the less you feel the motion.

That's gotta be true for rolling motions (side to side), and probably true for ploughing into head on seas.

A travel agent friend of mine who cruises frequently always insists on the lowest deck, inside cabin JUST to avoid sickness.

Personally, I have to see a horizon when I'm "on the verge" so a bit higher and outside seems preferable.

Wherever ... :o
