How is the sound proofing in the rooms? Can you hear the people in the rooms around you?

Under normal circumstances you won't unless you have extremely sensitive hearing. If they are being overly noisy, it's possible. We've never had that issue.

We find the cabins to be quiet, except for the rude people that let their stateroom door slam shut instead of taking the two extra seconds to guide it shut...

Most of the time you won't know you have neighbours. If your neighbours shout, you can hear them.

You'll get more noise from people passing in the halls. Apparently, you must shout to people in the hall, no matter what time it is and how far away they are.

We find the noises we hear are more from the neighbors upstairs walking or jumping around (in our mind they are jumping and moving furniture when they are probably just walking normally). We also hear the hangers banging in the closets of our neighbors. We actually had our room steward go to our neighbors and ask them to move the hangers - I don’t get how that noise doesn’t bother people. We remove the hangers first thing when we enter our room

The only neighbor noise I noticed was out on the veranda and I certainly don't begrudge happy families playing and laughing together on vacation. I did notice some hall noise, but no more than should be expected with that many excited people tucked into close quarters with one another (many of them children). I did hear door slams occasionally and even slammed a few myself. Closing a door isn't something one usually has to think about so it's easy to be distracted by the all the magic as you pass through your door and suddenly "SLAM" (oops).

The bottom line is that the noise ranges from minimal to reasonable with an occasional "oops". If you can let it go, enjoy yourself, and let others do the same it's no problem. If you truly need silence or seclusion to recharge on vacation, you probably already decided against a cruise and booked a cabin in the woods instead.

Disney folks tend to be generous of spirit, courtious and understanding. So enjoy your pixie dust and rest assured you'll get a good night's sleep in your stateroom.

I was also going to say - there’s more noise from the kids in the hallway than from those in rooms next to you.

I agree the noise is mostly from the hallway.
Once in 17 cruises we had a man next door that coughed all the time, loudly.

I would say that noise seemed less on Dream than Magic overall. (I haven't sailed on the other two ships). Like others have said, less intra-stateroom noise and more hallway noise. But this is why I always travel with a white noise machine and/or white noise app.

I am EXTREMELY sensitive to noise. Only once did I hear the people next to me talking and that was because they were standing in the doorway so the noise was coming in through the wall and hall at the same time. Yes hallway noise can sometimes be a problem (mostly running) but usually people are polite.

I am that person that at midnight has asked to be move to a different floor in a hotel because of noise.

We got off our first cruise the dream last week. My mom and I kept commenting on how quiet the state room was. We have done a land tour pop century and Beach club. And you can constantly hear your neighbors and toilets flushing. We were amazed on how we did not hear a single thing. No noises from neighbors no toilets flushing no showers nothing. I even remarked on how there was music playing in the hallways and you cannot even hear that through the door. Which made us think maybe the walls are also made of metal

We had a connecting room on the Fantasy. I was worried about having noise from next door but we didn't hear anything. Except....on the very last night one of their kids was having a HUGE tantrum. He was full out screaming. Even at that, the noise was very muffled. I tried to put my ear up to the connecting door to see what he was mad about but I had a hard time hearing anything but his muffled screams/crying. Most of the noise in our room was from the people above us walking around.

Not bad in our opinion. Have even been in rooms by the elevator and worried about noise, but they seem to tuck them around the corner well.

After eight cruises we have found that connecting rooms seem to have less soundproofing than non-connecting. You can hear your neighbors more, even with both doors shut. However, we seldom have a problem and almost never after 10 pm. I take ear plugs anyway because of (not naming names or pointing fingers) someone snoring next to me. The rocking of the ships puts me right to sleep after a Mickey Bar or two...with sprinkles.

We had connecting rooms on the Fantasy this summer and no issues. We heard the family next to us on the balcony when we were out there so we know they were around at similar times as us. We heard more from voices in the hallway than from anywhere else. We were aft deck 9 - loved it!
