We were going to stay in an ocean view stateroom but decided to switch to a stateroom w/verandah. The description is: Category 7A, Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom w/ Navigator's Verandah, Undersized and/or Obstructed View Private Verandah. Just wondering if there is anyone who can give me some ideas of what these rooms are like. We are hoping that we will be able to sit out on the verandah, have coffee, and see the ocean. Where are they located on the ship? If you have stayed in one of these rooms what are your thoughts?

We stayed in a 7a on the Fantasy. Like the PP mentioned, let us know what ship you're on b/c the Dream class and Magic class have very different Navigator's verandahs.

Which stateroom were you in? We have 9652 booked for Aug 9 2014. From what I see I think it will be just fine for the three of us. I understand our's has a bit of a hang over at the top but not a big deal to us. Saving a few bucks to have this little area to enjoy will be just fine. We aren't in our room much anyway.

same experience for us. We has a NB on the Dream in Jan 2012 and booked the same for Nov. of this year. It's fine. Worth a few extra bucks in the pocket. As long as your neighbours are not smokers...you'll love it!

Does anyone know i there are any of these which are acessable?

No accessible category 7As on any of the four ships.

Category 6A accessible rooms are available on the classic (Wonder/Magic) ships. They are aft and have a solid white wall instead of plexiglass, but are a true verandah.

The Dream (Dream/Fantasy) class ships have a few odd verandahs as accessible options. One on deck 9 aft (9170) and one on deck 5 (5552). There are also six family sized rooms midship (deck 6 & 8).

None of these present a significant savings over a "regular balcony" if that is what you are looking for.

We will be on the Dream. Thanks for the information.

We were in 7182 on the Fantasy which was a full-size verandah with a partially obstructed view. Not all of the navigator's verandahs are the same though, so keep that in mind. Here is a pic of where our room was... Deck 7 aft - we were the first verandah after the row of oceanview staterooms where it's the white metal curve (this is what caused the obstruction)...

I liked this particular location for a few different reasons:
1. We only had verandah neighbors on one side since the room on the other side is an oceanview.
2. One wall is enclosed (the side by the OV stateroom) so you are a little more shielded from wind, rain, etc.
3. If you want a verandah but want to try to avoid smoke as much as possible, this is a good location.

Here are some more pics... we had 2 chairs and a little table though not visible in the all the pics.

Hope that helps. If you have any more questions, just let me know.

We were in 7182. We found that we didn't use our verandah much b/c there's just so much else to do on the ship. We usually sat out there for a little bit in the morning while waiting on our DS to wake up or one of us was out there while the other was getting ready. It was nice to be able to open the door to get some fresh air in the room though. The obstruction was a non-issue for us and we would definitely travel in this type of room again.

Think of 7A's as the Sea-going version of "pot luck". As you can see from these posts, 7A's are a bit of a true gamble as they can vary significantly. Here is a pic of one of the smaller 7A verananda's. This is cabin #5188 and its twin, 5688, has a similar balcony and here is the write up from another forum...
CC reference said:
"Fans of Tinker Bell, the Seven Dwarfs or Jiminy Cricket might call Disney Dream and Fantasy's notorious cabin 5188 "cute." They might even say "aww" the first time they set toe on it. That's because it's one of the smallest private verandahs we've seen at sea (32 square feet, says Disney), so diminutive that only a short bench can occupy the al fresco space (rather than the traditional setup of two chairs and a table). While the size of the balcony may disappoint those looking to do more than lean over the railing or chat (standing up) with a tiny advice-dispensing cricket, the views of the ships' trailing wake will have you muttering hakuna matata".

We are hoping for a verandah that we can sit out and enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning or take a break during the day. We had an Ocean View room, with a large round window on deck two our first and only cruise. We loved just being able to look out and see water and hoping a verandah, even with an obtructed view, will be an upgrade from the window. When do they typically release these room numbers? We leave 9/1. Thanks for the pictures. I have looked at them several times and can't wait until we leave.

We booked a 7A gty and we recieved our room assignment about 55 days before. We were lucky and ended up with an upgrade to a Cat 5e oversized verandah. We would have been perfectly happy with the Navigators verandah though.
