Hi! I’m looking for help and opinions to decide which room to book for our first Disney cruise on the Fantasy. Family of 3 adults (one is my MIL) and 5 kids. Kids will be 14, 12, 10, 7, and 2.5. We will have two rooms.
Deluxe Verandah or Deluxe Family Verandah

Trying to decide if that extra Murphy bed and space would be that helpful. It’s about a $650 difference, but that cost may be split.

My husband and I are prone to motion sickness so we feel like at least a window is a must. The above two room types are the only ones available for midship location.

Where will the 20 month old be sleeping? If in a bed, then unless your MIL is sharing a bed with one of the kids, you will need a Murphy bed in one of the rooms.

We started getting a Deluxe Family Veranda room when our 2 kids were both teenagers. That allowed one to have the top bunk and one to have the Murphy bed, and left open the sofa for people to sit on if the beds weren’t put back yet in the morning or after they were down in the evening. The downside is that it is difficult to get to the veranda while the Murphy bed is down.

With that many people, I would get the largest cabins available. And make sure the cabins both have Murphy beds - some deluxe family staterooms don’t have them!

If you get connecting rooms with your MIL, they can open the verandah divider to have an extra wide verandah. With that many children, I feel the the larger space of the Deluxe Family Verandah cabin would be appreciated. The Murphy bed would be good for your 14 year old. It was somewhere around that age that our ds was too tall for the bunk beds and his feet would hang over the edge.
The Fantasy has had a many complaints about vibration in the more aft cabins so definitely avoid them. To help with motion sickness, you want to be mid ship and down closer to the water line. The verandah will help with getting fresh air on your face when you feel like you need some vs. getting an oceanview cabin. When our kids were very young, we only got window cabins because I felt that I'd never be able to sleep soundly with kids + verandah. Then again we don't have motion sickness issues. The window cabins also come in regular and family size too.
