HELP!
I am starting to have second thoughts. We are all booked for a category 4 stateroom (#8028). I have been spending some time on the boards and it seems the general concensous is that connecting lower categories are better. We are a family of 5, with three boys ages 8, 6 & 4. We are crusing 7 day Western in January and if I get right on it I may be able to change to connecting rooms.
My husband and I both like the idea of a veranda and of having our family all together in one room. My main concern is the noise on this deck. I would hate to pay a small fortune (!) and not be able to sleep. I noticed on the ship's layout that our room looks to be below the arcade and frankly that scares me! Please any input would be appreciated especially from anyone who has stayed in this particular room!!

I think the connecting stateroom thing might be better also 5 people in a cat 4 seems like alot of family bonding to me ......

I would change...... 2 showers 2 bathrooms and more space u will be cramped in the cat 4 we stayyed in a cat 4 just 2 of us and wewere happy with it ...

I would do the two staterooms also. Not only the two showers and bathrooms that would come in very handy, but if you keep the connectiong door open it will seem like you are all in the same room as your husband wants but you will have much more privacy and room.
Not to mention you will more than likely save some money.

We are a family of five and our kids were pretty young (9, 5 and 1.5) so we thought we would be fine in the category 4. It felt very crowded to me in the mornings when we were getting ready. Many times I booted the kids out on the verandah while I got ready so it would feel roomier. Next time we're going with the two lower category staterooms. I didn't find noise to be an issue at all. We were in 8026, one door down from where you'll be.

I had 8528, on the other side of the ship, last summer on the Wonder. It wasn't noisy--I believe it's under the adult pool so you don't get the noise of the Goofy pool (chairs being moved; the parties, etc.). Think about how you will do your sleeping arrrangements. Will you and your husband want to sleep in separate rooms for the sake of the kids, or would you be comfortable with them in the other room and the door held open?
My kids were 11,8 and 5 last summer and we didn't have tons of room, but we weren't cramped. Either way you will enjoy your cruise, but don't worry about noise. BTW my husband had time on the verandah every day; he loved it.

We were in 8028 in 2002, 8026 in 2003 and in 70 days we will be back in 8028 again, and I love that cabin!:bounce:

Now as far noise goes, you will hear a little bit of noise but mostly from chairs being moved around at night. We never heard a lot and it never lasted long. I never noticed any noise from the arcade as its on the other side of the ship. We really enjoyed the cabin for the verandah and being only one deck down from the pool. But you may decide that it might be worth it (with three little men and one big one) to get two cabins. This might work out more in your favour, especially if you keep one bathroom all to yourself:rolleyes:
What ever you decide have a great cruise...

wenabre,
Thanks for your response. Did you have three children with you in that cabin? We are waiting to hear back form DU to see if switching is even an option for us. We were really looking forward to the verandah so if it is more $$ or the same to switch I don't know what we'll do but you have eliminated my noise worries. We always bring a sound machine when we travel so hopefully that will drown out above noise. Hope to hear from you soon...:earsboy: :earsboy: :earsboy:

On our last 2 cruises we were in 8030 and our married children and their families ( 2 children each ) were in 8028 and 8026. There
was never a problem with noise, the location on deck 8 right near the midship elevators was terrific and the verandah made the cruise very special. I would recommend 8028 and in fact we are all going again this Nov in the same rooms again.

Hi Kellimomo3
 well in a way I can say that there were at least three children in the cabin. First there was my D- step-Daughter on her first Disney WDW and cruise and not being quite 30 (then), you could say she was a child. Then there was my youngest DD, who even though she was almost 19, you could also say she was a child. Then there was my Mother who is senior ( enough said, she lives nearby) who eats Mickey ice cream bars for breakfast, you could definitly say she was in her 'second' childhood'. Now as both girls have yet to learn the definition of children should be seen and not heard and they should also learn to hang up their clothes..... I think you get the picture....
Now for Mom/Nana, trying to get someone to move when she doesn't want too is not funny:rolleyes: I did the room service for breakfast and NO tip!!
I, on the other hand, was a calm picture of organization at all times. Schedules at the ready, clothes shoes and shopping always carefully stowed neatly and except for the occassional konk cooler or strongest toes contest ( I won !!) I would definitly say that yes indeed I had three children with me::yes::

( by the way if you see a post from Katdb or Dragon Lady after this one, don't bother reading it...they know not what they say!!)

Well, I think we are staying in #8028. The adjoining category 8's are more expensive then our category 4 cost! We definitley don't want to spend more but we want to be on deck 5 or above. The only thing we have not looked into yet is the price on adjoining inside cabins, but to go from a veranda to not even a window is hard!!
Would any of you even consider this!! None of our children nap and we really won't spend a lot of time in our cabin. That could be a plus for either senario I guess!
Thanks!!

We had originally booked 8028 but this and other similar boards spooked me. We are a family of 5 with a teen daughter and the thought of a space crunch and being separated from the balcony anyway when the 5th bed was down made me think to switch. Now we have ajoining category 7 rooms, with navigator's balconies, which I thought was a reasonable compromise without being too much more. However, now we could sleep 6 so my MIL may join us.....
