Good day everyone, I was just hoping that someone out there may have stayed in stateroom 6078 before. I am just trying to gather as much information about our stateroom before our departure date. I know that it (the stateroom) is midship and obiviously on deck 6 but first hand detail is always a plus. I have stayed on deck 7 between the mid and aft section on the starboard side in a verandah room before. I am assuming that the experience will be similar but as I mernioned before any information is helpful.

Also, my wife is a bit paranoid about the having a verandah and our 3 yo DD in close proximity. I was hoping for some reassurance from other cruisers that our DD was not going to climb over the railing into the ocean. I assume that this is probably a concern that many parents have but I am sure that a few good tips and experiences will set her mind at ease.

As always, thanks in advance.

Sorry, I can't offer you an info on your stateroom, but we just cruised last month with our 3 yo DD and had a verandah (cabin 7526 on the Wonder) and I really don't think you have anything to worry about. Our DD was never out on the verandah alone and it was next to impossible for her to open the door on her own (latch is up very high & must be unlocked and pulled open~door is pretty heavy, too). We never worried about her being able to climb over the rail (even when she climbed up on the little table to get "a better view"). I think I was more worried about her trying to throw something over the rail. Don't worry & enjoy your cruise!

That is good to know. As my wife and I were discussing the details of the trip and she was looking at some pictures and it dawned on her that there was the possibility that our DD would try scale the railing on the verandah and jump into the water. Your little one looks about the same size as our DD and her head did not even come to the top of the rail so my wife is a bit more comfortable now, thanks for the reply.

We've stayed in room 6078 on the Magic and love the room. It is midship so equally close to everything. Close to the midship elevator; but not at all noisy.

As far as the little one - I am 5" 1" and had to reach to get at the lock for the door. As noted by Krystina'sMommy the door is pretty heavy. I don't think a 3 yo could get it open.

For the grownups - if you look straight down you can see the stabilizer when it is out. Kind of neat.

Hope this helps.

we were in 6074 with an almost 3-year old. He liked looking out through the plexiglass that covers the rails, which prevents anyone from scaling them. Even though he's a climber, he showed no interest in anything but just looking.

Hi Voodooboy-
My Dh, DS Ryan (3yo) and I will be in room 6078 for the Halloween Magic Cruise! I'm also worried about his trying to climb over the railing :scared1: I'll let you know how the room is when we get back-

I love your pics Krystina'sMommy--looks like you had a fun cruise!

We sailed in 6107 last month with 3 yr twins (b/g). They are both climbers but didn't have a problem. I was worried also but it ended up being ok. I especially worried about the patio furniture out there since they could stand on the table/chair which would make it easier to climb. We just didn't have a problem with it. The door is heavy so they can't open it themselves. If they were out there, I was too.

The first cruise was a problem only because it was one of those solid metal verandahs and not a plexi one and if my daughter wanted to look out she had to be standing on something to see over the top of the metal but she was only 2 1/2 so I was out there with her whenever she went out, the door was to heavy for her to open on her own which was a good thing since the lock on the top was broken...the next cruise she was 4 and we made sure to get a plexi one so she wouldn't have to stand on anything to see out. She could open the door on her own this time but would never go out there unlesswe were there. We didn't keep the door locked since the lock was broke and the cabin stewart couldn't get it fixed for us so we always kept it open about an inch which is why she could pull it open, she never could have opened it if it was shut all the way. We would never get a metal one again, it was so much nicer to sit in the chair and look out at the ocean instead of having to stand up to see over the wall. I am going to miss having a verandah this next cruise but it comes down to cruising every 2 years and getting a verandah or cruising every year in a Cat. 11. I will check at the port and see if they have any cheap upgrades but if they don't we will be fine in our Cat 11 this time I am sure.
