State Fairs and Other Festivals

Austin City Limits Festival is back this October. It usually brings in somewhere in the vicinity of 100k people over 3 days.

the MN State Fair is back this year, with no restrictions. Not sure if I will go or not.

Glad it is back on, but definitely not going. We used to go multiple times a season, etc. The violence and other assorted ish that goes along with it now...not interested.

And, now that the only fair food I get (cheese on a stick) has a place in Roseville, I have no need ;)

Not yet. They hope to do a mini State Fair in September but nothing firmed up yet.

I’m not sure if we will have our regional fair in August or County fair in September. I tried to look it up but the website doesn’t say one way or the other. It just says held the second weekend in August as general statement.

Everything is on here. Our county puts on one of the best in the nation. It's better than most state fairs. We built two new barns for the animals. And several new projects due next year.

This year, we're going to have a Police Reunion concert.

I wonder if they'll play this?

Oh wait. My bad. It was a concert to benefit retired cops and families of cops in need, not a reunion concert for the band.

They did have the San Diego County Fair this year aka the Del Mar Fair. But it was smaller and the hours were cut back a lot. We have always gone early in the day to beat the heat and to get the little ones back home for a nap, but that wasn't possible with the later entry time and then more crowds because fewer days and hours. So we skipped it this time around.
Good that things are gradually opening up, though. Everything is a bit more complicated factoring in the grandkids, but for older vaccinated people, making progress!

Florida's state fair is held in Tampa. It's usually in February, but I believe was held in April this year. Next one is Feb 10-21, 2022.

The fairgrounds are hosting some events. I think Chicago had a concert there earlier this month and the Dave Matthews Band is next week.

You’re becoming obsessed, boy.

in centeral oregon there has been two rodeos, a munch music fest , a rhubarb fest and today a quilt show. But the bigger events in the Willamette valley required much money and many sponsers. so they were all canceled for 2021

CA is not doing their state fair but the amusement (ride) company is bringing out their rides next month. Some counties are doing their county fair.

I don't think my current county actually has a fair, but the county I grew up in is holding theirs this year as normal. (They actually held a drive-through one last year as well, so they wouldn't break a streak.)

The amusement park nearest us is open, and the regional equivalent of a big state fair is scheduled to happen in September, after being cancelled last year.

The Renaissance fair I've been to a couple of times also looks like it will be on this year.
