Hi! As the title says... I need STAT dining advice! Leaving on 1/11/17 (ONE WEEK FROM TODAY! YAY!).

The short version: I need a recommendation for TS on 1/12/17.

Here are the details of the trip...

WHO: Mom and Me. I'm 29, mom is... older than me but not old. puckerup:

WHEN: 1/11/7-1/15/17

WHERE: Staying at CSR; we have park hoppers... and love to park/resort hop!

THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW: Definitely no 2 TS restaurants. Strongly prefer no character meals but not opposed to them. Mom has a dairy allergy. We are not picky eaters at all.

1/13/17
- Park: Epcot
- Breakfast: snack credit from Pepper Market, planing on a mid morning snack at Sunshine Seasons
- Lunch: 12pm ADR for San Angel Inn
- Dinner: QS at Epcot, probably Katsura Grill

If you weren't wanting to use the dining plan I'd say Brown Derby. If you could find another place to use the TS credit I would still say to go there for cash.

Not sure what adrs you'll find this close in though.

Since you have all your late day plans at DHS, I think you're basically choosing from among the three non-signature table service choices? That's what I would recommend given what you have scheduled for FastPasses and wanting to stay for the night time shows.

50’s Prime Time Café
Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano
Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant

My pick would be Mama Melrose, but there are big fans of Sci-Fi and 50's Prime Time.

If you are on the dining plan, the Fantasmic! Dining Package at Mama Melrose would be a great choice, but I checked and at least right now there's no availability (for the package) this close to next week. All three TS spots were showing regular seatings for that night.

Im not clear; are you on the dining plan?

Either way, I'm going to ignore your "no 2TS" requirement and say Hollywood Brown Derby. You can eat cheap there. Or, if you are in the dining plan, have one person order the full meal and the other can order an appetizer out of pocket, such as the amazing Cobb salad.

Epcot and the Boardwalk are just a 15-20 minute easy walk away, or you can take the boat there from DHS. Epcot has lots of choices, some of which would likely be available even at this late date. In addition, you might be able to snag a Cape May Cafe or (almost assuredly) a Captain's Grille table reservation at the Beach/Yacht Club. You might also be able to get a reservation at Trattoria Al Forno on the Boardwalk, or a walk up at the Big River Grille on the Boardwalk (not on DDP). Flying Fish is also there, but it's 2 TS. Also in the area is Yachtsman, also a 2 TS meal. At the Swan and Dolphin, there are additional choices, none on the dining plan.

I agree with the Epcot suggestion, it's an easy walk from HS or you can take the boat which takes a little longer. You shouldn't have any problems finding something there, my favorite is Spice Road Tables.

Personally I might go over to the beach club or to Epcot for a late dinner But since you want to see the night shows then I would do 50s primetime if there is a reservation available . I think you need to stay in the park to make sure you are there for the shows if that something that's important to you at night .

I too would either go to the Beach Club for Cape May Buffet or into Epcot. You could hit England, France or Canada pretty easily and get back in time for fireworks.

DH and I don't plan trips far in advance very often. We play dining roulette for most all meals.
That day we open the app, click the park/resort/location we want to eat at, an approximate time and pick from whatever is available
There are so many dining locations on property that as long as you aren't there over Christmas week you can find something (and probably even then)
Being flexible and open to most all things helps, and you seem to be.

Cape May would be my choice. I would say the Wave, but with wanting to get back for those two things, don't think you will make it.

50’s Prime Time Café
Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano
Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant...

I've been to two out of the three. Mama Melrose's was so long ago I don't really remember much. - I'm pretty sure we liked the food, but I can't quite picture details of the place itself. Sci-Fi was definitely fun. (It is dark, however, if "older but not old" for your mom means any vision issues with reading the menu.) I've never tried the 50's Cafe, because the interaction just isn't my thing, but I have heard good things about the food.

I would just pull up the time you'd like to eat, and see which one is available.

The burgers, shakes and onion rings are AWESOME at Sci-Fi and 50's has some top notch comfort foods. Both of these are very unique and fun with tons of themeing. Those would be my choices. Mama Melrose's is quieter and while the food is fine it is Italian which is not unique at all.

Yes we are using the DDP! Thanks for the suggestion, that's a great idea!

Thank you everyone! I'm going to look at the menus for Sci-Fi and 50s Prime Time!

Does anyone have any reviews on Hollywood & Vine buffer? I know its character but we could do the Fantasmic DP... I was able to snag one for 5:30 that night. (1/12)

Definitely look at Sci-Fi and 50's. Both have good food and while not spectacular, have fun atmospheres.

I'd stear clear of Hollywood and Vine. We've only done breakfast (so my daughter could meet the disney jr gang before they were in the parks) but it was pretty darn bad to mediocre, pretty akin to what you'd find at any middle of the road hotel.

Just wanted to add my vote for 50's Prime Time which is such a fun place with great food.

On your Friday the 13th Epcot day the new Festival of the Arts will have its opening day. There will be many special and unique food kiosks all around the World Showcase. The food photos I've seen are amazing! They will be serving small plates of very artfully presented food and desserts. Enjoy!

I'm so excited for this! Can't wait to snack around the world :cutie: I'll be sure to write a dining report when I return, complete with pics!
