starwood preff PLANNER

I have read on this board that several people have had luck getting a room upgrade when you check in. I am a spg....but due to several events I host for work at starwood/westin/sherton hotels, I am a Starwood Preffered Planner.....is anyone else this and if so has it increased your chances of an upgrade or any extra perks?

I doubt I could book a conference there and the way my company works we would not get free time anyway...would just kill me to be there and not go to the parks LOL
