I just recently became a member and I was wondering...do you get some type of card or proof of membership or do you just use your membership # ? I know that at the Swan and Dolphin there is a special check in area for SPG members and I didn't know if you had to have some type of card or if they just ask for your mem #. Thanks!

I believe you can go to their web site and order a card....if you have your number. I signed up over a year ago and, although I have a number, I have never received a card. If you have not been there before, set up a user name & password and put in your account number and then have a replacement card sent to you. However, you should just be able to give them your number when you check in, I would think. Do you have AAA? You can add your AAA account number and get additional discounts.

We have the Starwood Gold card. Have never used it for perks before. We'll be staying at the Dolphin and the Sheraton Safari on our trip (leaving tomorrow May 2). What should I do to get the advantages of the card?

I'm still learning too, but I know if you have AAA and have your AAA number added to your Starwood account that you get a room discount (50% off when available,) a free preferred room upgrade, a 4:00pm late checkout, 1,000 starpoints on your first 3 stays, and 2 starpoints for each $1 spent.

Hmmm, sadly we don't have AAA, and don't have time to get one this trip either. But would still like to know if there are other advantages to the Gold Starwood Card. Upgrades perhaps?

Just a side note....

The 50% discount is contingent upon a 21 day nonrefundable deposit- if there are discountable rooms available.
