I'm determined not to have DD's b-day party at my house (cost me about the same last year, plus about a year's worth of aggravation). So, I want to book something early. That got me thinking about when to have it.

Her birthday is in the third week of June. However, school lets out in the first week of June, perhaps even the last week of May (depending on the snow day calculations). Since all the kids will scatter after kindergarten graduation (there is no summer camp/continuation program at her current school), should I move her b-day party up a couple of weeks? Or, send out the invites in that last week of school and hope people will turn up 3 weeks later? There is no parent directory or e-mail list than I can use to send out invites after graduation.

TIA for your thoughts.

My sister's b-day is June 18. My mom always had her party with her friends just after school let out.

I would move her party up a bit. It's just not worth the aggravation. Plus, people might start going away on vacation when school gets out. You can have a quiet little family party on her actual day.

::yes:: I agree.

Okay, next question. Do people usually have kindergarten graduation parties? I mean, if they graduate June 3 or so, would having a party on June 4 or 5 be bad? Or, should I wait until June 11 or 12?

Also, is a bowling party out of the question for Summer? Or, should I go more of the ice cream party route? I heard ads for an an ice cream palour in town.

Sorry for being so wishy washy - I just want to maximize attendance for my DD - her last party was a bit of a let down. (And very stressful to me).

Heck~ I don't even think my DD is having a Kindergarten graduation . Either party would be great! My DD just went to a bowling party and loved it.

Our school does not have K graduations, thankfully. Each school is different, so you'll have to ask. If there was a graduation, I would not have had a party. At most, I would have just had a dinner at McDonalds with us & her Grandparents.

Bowling is a fun party regardless of the time of year. We went to one in June last year when the kids were in K.

Do they go for a full day of school on the last day? I would just do it after school on the last day of school, once that day is determined. Plus, if there is some sort of graduation, then you'll have parents that'll be able to help with transportation!

Bowling is a fun party, and most lanes put up the bumper things, so the kiddos won't get gutter balls. Plus, most bowling alleys have pizza or hot dogs.

I have never been to an ice cream type of party. That does sound like fun, though!

If you decide to have the party later in the month, don't send the invites home on the last day of school. Many parents don't make clearing out the backpacks a high priority the last couple of days of school.
