Woo hoo! Just bought DS (6) two pair of Really Comfortable shoes for WDW. got one at Payless, Airwalk flip flops - great for the pool area and a pair of Skechers. http://www.famousfootwear.com/product.asp?product_id=1011597&variant_id=40865
He's so excited! Also found myslelf a good pair of shoes and some sunglasses for DD (15 months), here's hoping she can keep them on! Is anyone else finding that they're purchasing quite a bit of stuff to make the trip - or is it just because it's our family's first one?

I have had to purchase quite a bit, but I haven't been to WDW in over 10 years. But new sneaks, new socks, new clothes, lots of sunblock. It can add up, which is why I'm planning ahead and getting it a bit at a time. I'm not going until May, so I should be ready by then!

Yep, that's how we're making it work out too... purchasing something form the list every week. Should be ready to go when the trip rolls around at the end of May! LOL :rotfl:

It is soooo nice to see that we're not the only one's shopping for our trip 2 months early! We are going at the end of May as well and have already bought visors, some clothes for us and the kids, waist packs and walkie talkies. Although, we do have Sprint cell phones with the walkie talkie capability. I wonder if we could return the one's we bought and use that $30 other things we need! :earboy2:

Ha! We're not going until next Jan. but I'm already making our Family shirts! There are 15 of us, so there's plenty of "getting ready", but we're having a ball!

I've been getting a few small things and we're not going until May of Next year!!! So far it's been shampoo/conditioner samples, but it's a start and most of it is free. I'll be shopping more this year when the spring/summer stuff goes on sale. Then I'll shop for next years trip for clothes then. It helps to be prepared, so you're not paying full price and hit the sales.

Have fun shopping! There's nothing wrong with shopping early. I should know and it will also be our 1st family vacation.

Now I'm nervous!! I have to get on it. With 4 kids there is always something we need for the trip. The one thing we got yesterday was new sneakers for everyone so they could break them in. I am pretty sure that all the stuff I bought for our trip last July(like dd's dresses) should still fit. But I have to dig them out of the basement and make sure. -Today I'll hit target for socks and underwear!

as far as I'm concerned, it's never too early to shop for the trip! We're going in June and I've got our dollar ponchos (2 per person) and a dollar over-the-door pocket shoe organizer that we hang on the bathroom door for all our cosmetics, etc. to keep the counter around the sink clear. I've been snapping up really cute summer tops over the winter (I shop clearance racks in the high-end stores) and will stock up on the FCC sized containers closer to the date--who knows what may change by that time?:confused3 Last but not least is my list of "disney shopping" items that I want to get from WDW. I make sure they are items that can only be purchased there. :woohoo:

I have been planning AND shopping for our trip in October for 2 years already.:yay: :yay: I have all of the rain gear, all of the sunblock lotion, the cute lights for my grandsons MNSSHP (which were on sale ) the decorations for our room windows. I even bought most of his clothes when they were all on sale last summer, just alittle bigger for this year. I also bought matching shirts when they went on sale from Disney.com. This way when October does get here, I'll have more money to spend~~~~~~

Debbie
Waiting for October to get here pixiedust:

I started shopping 3 months out and SO GLAD I did! I even bought snacks a month ahead of time. The trip really crept up on me and I'd be in a total panic if I had't planned ahead - both financially and time wise. Go ahead shop away. Just stick to your lists so you dont over buy - I think I have too many little plane activities for DD but I can always save them for stocking stuffers next year LOL!

I've placed my order with gardengrocer, purchased some Disney t-shirts, ordered my bagallini, but I plan on doing alot more. Tie-dyed t-shirts, Disney crocs (ordered and returned b/c of wrong size), thinking of doing the LGMH, and other things from this site. (:yay: Trip is in June)

I would like to get maps of the parks so I can try to study them. Does anyone know where I can get any?

Thanks in advance, arachal

OK... I've been scouring the planning boards for a while and have a spreadsheet created with a tab for each family member, one each for the things we'll need in the room, for the flight, toiletries, first aid and one for suggestions from other DISers. I've picked up some of the toiletries and first aid stuff already (while I was waiting for a prescription to be filled) at Walgreens. I figure as long as I have lists, it shouldn't be too hard to pick stuff up. For me, it's the planning that is the hard part. THANK GOODNESS for all of you on these boards who are willing to share their tips for packing!

I'm not going until December but Im already buying a little here and there and putting it up. I got stuff like a mini first aid kit, a couple outfits for DD (they were on sale at WalMart for $3 each and I just couldnt pass it up), toothbrush holders, etc.....

You can order the free maps from the disneyworld website. They are really nice.

We go in June. I already started buying Tinkerbelle gifts and new outfits for the kids (the ones that will hang in the closet until we go (they know they are not allowed to wear vacation clothes!). I have tons of ponchos (unopened) from our previous trips. Everytime I'm at Target I pick up the little packets of Shout wipes. Whenever Bath and Body has a sale I picked up the small kids antibacterial wipes and soaps. I'm buying the kids crocs for the first time this year but probably won't get them and the sneakers until May. I usually make most last trip before we go for socks and underwear. What is it about vacation that makes us all buy new socks and underwear?

We aren't going until December and I've already started shopping. Every time i am in the disney store I check out the clearance items. Got some picture frames and little fans. I got ponchos on clearance at Target. Now I'll looking for outfits for my girls. They need princess and minnie clothes. I'm going to try out the payless crocs for me. Dh refuses to wear them.

I know... I keep looking at the Crocs but I cannot bring myself to buy them. They look SO huge on my feet! Especially bad with no socks and capris or shorts like I imaging I'll be wearing them! I did find a pair of shoes that are super comfy though. I'll keep an eye out at Payless for the Mary Jane's in pink. My store didn't have them yesterday but I saw them online.

My kids' first trip ever will be in June.
I've already got family shirt designs saved on the computer (to make over Spring Break--I'm a teacher). I'm also going to do Disney baskets for my DD5 and DS9 for Easter and include things such as autograph books (order online), Disney crocs, etc. Two birds with one stone, so to speak!! I need to start picking things up from my list as well--I have a big Rubbermaid box I think I'll start putting all the WDW stuff in.

Can't wait!!

Our 2nd trip is the first week of July & we've been planning & buying too. Based on opinions I've read on this board, my list is getting longer. It certainly doesn't hurt to plan ahead. Besides, planning is part of the fun, right?

I'm embarrassed to admit it, but we were so overwhelmed during our first WDW trip a few years ago, I forgot to tip housekeeping. Now I'm ready; I have 9 envelopes out labeled "mousekeeping" & half already contain the $5 I plan to leave each day. They're already in my carryon bag along with pennies for the pressed penny machines, sunblock, pins for trading & other things. My daughter is laughing at me but my granddaughter & I can't contain our excitement! Grandson is very excited too but he doesn't show it as much.

Have a wonderful time!

Oooohhh! Didn't even think about "mousekeeping"!!! Bet just like anywhere, they'll take a bit more care of you if you tip. LOL
