I booked a 6b on the Dream for our September cruise - stateroom 6688. I am now starting to regret it reading what some people have said.

I'm concerned that the vibration and noise when pulling into port or reaching higher cruising speeds will be an issue.

Also someone said it's really far from the elevators, but when I look at the deck plan there appear to be aft elevators very close by?

What are your thoughts? Should I change cabins / categories? I've only sailed mid ship and forward so far.

If you had the opportunity to change would you? How much more would you pay for a different category? I'm just not sure. There are some 4 and 5 categories available that are still sort of aft but not at the very back?

I am in 6670 on the fantasy which is aft. All the reviews said a little vibration pulling into port. I don't think the vibration will be so bad. Everyone said on my room review they loved the location and they were close to the elevators.

We were in 5688 on the Fantasy. We loved it! Very quiet hallways, and near the elevators. Perfect for jumping up to Cabanas.

We had a GREAT view! (Right above Dumbo's butt.) :dumbo: If I could, I'd always pick aft now. We had no noise from the clubs below us and only slight vibration when docking. Totally worth the view and solitude for us.

A ways to the theatre? Definitely. You'll need to walk off all the food onboard anyway, right? :D I know we sure did. :rolleyes1

People complain about the size of the veranda, but we only use it when we're pulling in or out. (there were only two of us) I did sit out there to read everyday, but it wasn't very comfortable.

I would book whatever you think is going to make you the happiest. Don't worry! Have fun!

We have stayed aft on the Dream and Fantasy and LOVE the location. The Fantasy had a worse vibration than the dream but to us it still wasn't all that bad. I mean we are on a ship so we expect vibration from the thrusters, etc... If you like the location then stick with it and I wouldn't worry too much about the vibration. To be honest you probably would find it hard to find a place on the ship that you didn't feel anything since there are thrusters on the front and back and on both sides of the ship.

We were aft on our Alaskan cruise on the Wonder last year, albeit on the 2nd deck. It was very noisy with lots of vibration. Of course where you are on the Dream it could be completely different. On our cruise in 2 weeks, we are mid-ship on the Fantasy. I think we will be happier with that location.

I just booked today! I have room #7684 on the Dream, so basically a floor up from you. The reviews I've read and the comments from the TA have made me feel like it's going to be fine. Yes, some reviews mention the vibration/noise, but only one said it was disturbing. The view sounds wonderful (views of CC are supposed to be perfect), and the elevators are right there. It sounds like it will be very convenient getting to dining. Considering the amount of walking we do at a typical resort, I can't imaging it being a big deal:) Hope it all turns out great!

Our first sailing on the Dream was in 6188 and no issues at all. I have absolutely experienced the Fantasy aft shaking and still wouldn't hesitate to book aft. The Dream isn't going nearly as far distance wise as the Fantasy and some times the Dream slows down quite a bit as again, not in a hurry :)

I wouldn't worry about it ~ it's a great location!

Yep.

Far from elevators just depends on what elevators you're using, if you've figured out tricks to getting around, and where you're coming from or going to.

Not quite as aft, but we stayed in 6666 and it was a fabulous location. The only issue was telling people our room number LOL. I wouldn't have an issue staying further aft.

We stayed in cabin in 6683 it was my favorite cabin of all of our cruises. The aft elevators are close, not a lot of foot traffic outside your door also very quiet. You could hear and feel vibrations when puling into port but it doesn't last long. Castaway Cay was windy the day we docked and it took maybe 20 minutes. It wasn't a big deal we were standing on the balcony watching the ship dock.

Although both our Dream and Fantasy were 5E on higher decks (8th and 9th), we've never had any issues with vibrations. Do you notice it, absolutely. But only when backing into port. It's a nice wake up call I'd say. But never an issue at other times...

We loved the 5E staterooms. Just a few steps from Cabanas and drink stations...

I think our cabin has an extended veranda so I'm not sure what you mean by size of the veranda. There are only 2 cabins to my knowledge in this class at the very back on deck 6 - 6188 and 6688 I believe are the numbers....could be wrong.

I agree 100% - this is "us" as well....cabin 9174 is "our cabin" and we book it whenever possible.

We were aft on the Dream on deck 9 and loved it. Minor vibrations pulling into Nassau but we were already awake as well as Castaway Cay. No worries with vibrations with cruising speed, the short distances the Dream travels, it mostly just putts around at a slow speed.

No. We weren't in the same category, but I was just letting you know that we were below that room and the vibration, area, view, etc. was perfect. We had a veranda, but it was very small. It was a cat 7. :wave2:

Thanks all for the advice. I think we'll stick with it and see how it goes. That way we'll know for next time! :earsboy:
