I just looked at easywdw to see the numbers for our Jan trip (1-27 to 2-2)

am Im really surprised --it starts off nice 2 3 and 4 but by the weekend its 5 and 6!!!!

weve been going this time of yr for this last few yrs and never had any issues with crowds

I didnt think there was anything special going on this yr that I didnt hear about

please any advice to help that the crowds wont be to bad

thanks all

My advice: consider yourself lucky that it's only a 5 and 6...

I can't imagine freaking out over 5's and 6's. You'll have a great time, stop worrying.

I agree. I have been on trips where during the week is 5-6 and the weekend, 7-8. I had a great time.

Edited because it left the quotes that I was agreeing with out, for some reason.

Wow, I'm a Disney nooblet. What do these number means? 5&6? Is this crowd level? And if so what does 5&6+ actually represent in population? I will be there at this time and I know others who will be too, because its right before our 7 day Disney cruise!

Yes, it is the crowd level on a scale of 1-10. Recently, many people have posted that they feel like even the 5-6 expected crowd levels were more like 8+. Perhaps the new scale needs to be on a scale of 8-10.....

There simply is no slow time anymore. It will be crowded. As others have said, be thrilled if it actually IS a 5-6. Plan for crowds. It is more crowded than ever before and a 5-6 actually considered low crowds.

FWIW, EasyWDW's scale is based on the observed previous 6 months and the predicted attendance the next 6 months.

For that rolling 12 month period, a "1" is the best day to go if low crowds matter, and a "10" is the worst day.

Those 1-10 numbers exist to help plan a future trip, and make the best out of that trip.

Yeah, I was (mostly) joking. I believe with the easywdw scale, a 1 does not necessarily mean "not crowded". It just means "the lowest relative crowds of the year". If every day of the year is packed elbow to elbow, then even crowd level 1 days will be packed.

Sounds very familiar! Our days overlap, jan 25-31 :) We've been several times in January always avoiding marathon and MLK day. Same this year. I've never used crowd calendars before, but this year i looked and had a similar freak out reaction! Why is it going to be so busy? Did i missing something? Get the marathon weekend wrong? It's always been fine crowd-wise in the past. I basically came to the thinking, if Jan is a 5 or 6, what the heck is 10?! I started questioning the accuracy and relativity of these scales. Which is funny bc i just saw a thread on this the other day. Another thought to help ease my concern...in the past and don't ask me why for the most part we've always spent all day at the park with emh. So in retrospect that was probably a poor decision and we were prob experiencing the most crowded park for day and still very manageable crowd levels. Going this time of year, we are used to ave waits of about 20min..shorter for some of the fast loading or less "excting" and maybe 30-45 min for mid level thrills. Then we just FP the things we know will have ridiculous lines (TSM, soarin, coasters, elsa anna, etc...)

It's been said before many times by others but I'll say it this time, there is no slow time at Disney any more, and they've worked very hard to make it that way.

 Yes, gone are the days of going in September and literally walking in every ride with zero wait, walking up to counter services and not worrying if we could find a table and walking up to table service restaurants when you were hungry. Better yet, actually being able to WALK
