Starting to doubt my choice

With less than 2 weeks to go now, I am just going over everything and double checking. We have booked some ADRs but I am starting to doubt my Chef Mickey breakfast. We have eaten their before but for dinner and this will be the first time with the kiddies. I just don't know if I can justify $100 plus tips for breakfast?

Here are the ADRs we have...

RC at AK breakfast
T. Rex cafe lunch
Planet Hollywood dinner
Crystal palace late lunch
Garden grill dinner
Hollywood and vine breakfast
Chef mickeys breakfast

So we have a total of 4 character meals. What do you think? Should I drop Chef Mickeys? I so desperately still want to try and get an Ohana dinner too.

We prefer Tusker House or Ohana for breakfast.

We don't find Chef Mickeys good value for breakfast or dinner. Nothing wrong with the food but the price is just too high.

We have done it on the DDP and OOP but unless DD asks specifically we won't be going back.

That is what I am now thinking, I don't think I considered the price when booking. We only chose it because of the main characters really. We had a really bad experience last time we done a character meal in AK and that was at Donald's restaurantasaurus and we hated it so that's why we didn't go for tucker house this time. I didn't know about Ohana until recently which I am really gutted about, but will keep trying.

I would drop Hollywood and Vine, not seen many good reviews and our experience wasn’t great (imho) We have always enjoyed CP, RC and T-rex with the Children, only eaten at Chef Mickeys once, it was OK. For lunch have you considered Yak and Yeti or the Kona Cafe? we enjoy these two. Ohana is another enjoyable breakfast spot.

Haven't tried Hollywood and vine for breakfast but have done lunch a few times when the kids where younger at its great fun with good food- think it was the first time I saw fresh carrots and broccoli in Disney on that trip and was strangely overjoyed to see it!:rotfl2:

They serve ACTUAL VEGETABLES in House of Blues too - mysterious things, they are :rotfl:

We are doing Hollywood and vine purely for the characters. Our youngest will be so made up to dance with her favourite show characters. We are staying onsite but want to eat at our fave off site restaurants the most for breakfast and dinner. So it's really only character dining we are looking at (with the exception of Ohana dinner)

I prefer Chef Mickeys breakfast than dinner but like you said it is very expensive for a breakfast.
Tusker house is fab for seeing the characters but as you've already got a RC breakfast at AK, it may be a bit much.
H&V does seem to be one of the least favourite buffet meals, so if you skip anything I'd go for that.
Keep trying Ohanas it is lovely, good luck.xx:)

We prefer Cape May at the Beach Club for Character Brfst. More interaction from Characters, they come around more than once, and MUCH better food.pixiedust:

Just managed to secure a Ohana breakfast thanks to the ADR November thread on the dining forum. Really pleased, it's on our last day so a nice way to end the holiday. Think I will cancel Chef Mickeys now. Will keep looking for the Ohana dinner too.
It really is the characters that is keeping my Hollywood and vine ADR

This looks really nice! What characters are there?

We loved Hollywood and vine. Elsie loves it there. We did pay OOP for this on our last trip because she loved it so much. We think the food is great and the character interaction is always very good. She danced twice with the characters and once round the restaurant.

Out of your list I would personally wouldn't bother with Rain Forest Cafe breakfast. There are so many places to eat offsite cheaper. We had dinner at chef mickeys and were disappointed with it. I wouldn't pay OOP for it but we are gong to give it a second chance for breakfast when we go back (DDP and more for Elsie then Dave and I). Planet Hollywood I really enjoyed the food when we went but I wouldn't return. It was so cramped and it was just like a TGI Fridays just more expensive.

T Rex I think Chester will love it. Treat yourself to a cotton Tini. ;)
Garden Grill I loved it was one of my favourite meals. Go on the ride just before it's great showing the kids all the plants etc. Elsie loved the ride and asked to go on again.
Crystal palace was ok we were all really tired when we are there and getting of fed up with ADRs at that time but hopefully it was just our bad mood that gives us bad memories of our visit to CP. Again giving it a second chance for breakfast when we return.

Ohana breakfast amazing glad you got a reservation hope you get a dinner too x

When we went it was Donald Goofy and Minnie.

We said we would only go back if staying in an Epcot resort not worth travelling to for us.

We said the same. I do think the food choice is much better than at CM but we found the character interaction there on our last visit to be bordering on non existent. With that said, I do acknowledge that you can't take a once off experience and brand it to apply across the board. I would definitely eat there again, but as Tracy says, only if it didn't require me going out of my way too much. The buffet is definitely one of the best of any character meals on offer IMO, both in terms of quality and selection.

Ok, thank you. I will have to give this one more thought. The food looks nice.

We are staying at AoA so not an Epcot resort. I was surprised to see how low the cost was compared to other character meals and considering there is a lot of choice. Hmm

Thanks Hun

It was looking at Elsie's face seeing these characters that made me book Hollywood and vine! I am super excited to see the children's reaction to the dancing as they both love to dance!

It's tough with rainforest cafe because we have eaten there so many times for dinner and do like it, but like you say it's overpriced. I love their breakfast eggs Benedict and I think the kids would love the theme (Chester loves the London one) but I didn't want to eat there for dinner only for the children not to eat much. We have got so many off site restaurants we want to eat at too.

I am glad I have cancelled Chef Mickeys now, when we were on our honeymoon (it seemed) like money was no object so we didn't really take note of prices. I certainly do not think its worth it's money.

Planet Hollywood is purely for Craig, it's the one restaurant he has asked to go to, I don't rate it that much tbh. But I suppose will let him have this one say in the plans haha

Ooooh will Deffo look out for a cotton tini :)

I really love Garden grill too, we didn't do it last time so it's been about 8 years since I have been in there. Can't wait.

I am sooooo pleased I got Ohana breakfast even if it is on our last day! But I am annoyed I didn't try and get it sooner!

Booked Millie's my first hair cut today too! Struggled to get a reservation which I was surprised at!

Yeah Elsie still talks about the meal so if must be good. The CMs there were all amazing to the little ones. Handy manny and oso were unbelievable to her she was so excited having so much attention from them.

I guess if you know the kids will enjoy it and will eat enough to make it worth while then it's a good choice. We ate at Denny's and got 20% off the food there was good and cheap. Other places like I hop we signed up to we had 1 free breakfast.

Yeah it is over priced but unfortunately though I love disney a lot of their food is. We are off site a lot cheaper last time. When we have the DDP we walk in to a CS order what ever we want and aren't bothered if we don't eat it. Last time of we ate at a CD we were sharing a meal and normally the cheapest on the menu.

I guess if it's only bit of planning Craig has done keep it lol. Got to keep them happy.

Like you said though it will be a nice thing to do on the last day. The parade around the restaurant Elsie loved it so much she was sad it ended lol.

We found the buffet to have one of the smallest choices. Food was Ok but not all the selections you get at some of the others.
