Start meal plan before getting room?

Our reservation has us checking into the ASMR on 11/30, however, we also want to start our park visits that day with a breakfast at HS. Does anyone know if our dining plan will start on 11/30 even if we haven't checked into our room yet?

I believe you have to check in first. Could be wrong. But when I had the dining plan I had to check in.

YOu have to check in as in go to the hotel and say your there and make sure everything is filled out.

However if your room isn't ready that doesn't matter. You can drop your bags off will bell services and head to the parks.

You can show up anytime after they process portfolios for the night... We've arrived at 5:30am before!

If you do direct to room check-in and specify that you will be at the resort before your breakfast reservation, you should be fine. My sister did this last week.

Did direct to room check-in at AKV. Chose her desired arrival time as 7:30 am.

Went straight to the MK from her off-site hotel.

Dining plan worked perfectly WITHOUT stopping by AKV first.

Before direct to room, you did have to physically go to the resort to check-in to activate your dining plan. That is not the case anymore

We usually will arrive night before and do a room only night to save money, then go to the resort bright and early, check in and head to parks to begin using our DDP.

Have done direct to room and it was flawless, but haven't had DDP since that started. Makes sense that if you are picked for direct to room it should be good as well.

This is correct! With on line check-in, and the "skip the front desk" option, park tickets and dining plan will be active on arrival day automatically. No need to go to the resort first.

Wait a minute... is this still true even if you elect to do online check in?!? We were told online check in activates it without having to stop by the front desk...
