Start Homeschool more than halfway through year?

We pulled DD out last year in March when she was in second grade. We had no problems at all. She is very happy at home and progressing well through third grade.

Don't hesitate to do what feels right for your child. We also had a second grade teacher who was a nightmare too...actually the teacher we had from Sept to 1st of Dec was not bad even though she was off sick about 20 days during those months with a difficult pregnancy and then she left early on maternity. The 2or 3 different subs she had for the remainder of Dec were not as good. The final straw was the nasty one that took over in January. By March my daughter would throw up a couple of times a week because she was so upset about going to school.

I don't know your reasons but I am sure that you have put a lot of thought into this decision and I want to assure that it is not too late.

Check out HSLDA's (Home School Legal Defense Association) website for laws in your state.
There are a lot of different curriculums available and it will take some time to decide what fits best for your daughter and teaching style. If you don't want to finish out with her current texts you could switch to something like A Beka for the rest of the year (The basic textbooks are inexpensive, and don't need all of the extra materials that run the cost up.).
My absolute favorite curriculum is Sonlight. It is so much fun, and my kids love it! If you go to their website, you can find a ton of information. They also have a great forum where you can get great advice.
