Is this still going on and what time will it happen in July? Is it worth going to MGM just for the parade and dinner at 50's Prime Time?

It's hard to say whether that parade will still be going on in July -- TOD at Epcot was cancelled at very short notice (it had even been posted on the official calendar at Disneyworld.com for all of March, then the calendar was revised). It's a cute parade, so if it's still going on, I do think it would be worth seeing the parade and then eating at Prime Time. However, if I had a hopper pass, I wouldn't use a whole day just on that....

I have a question: Where is the best place to view this parade? We will be eatting at the Brown Derby afterwards. Thanks!

We went to this parade in December, and we loved it. We have three small children which I think made it that much better for us. They got to see all of their favorites. If you like characters, you will like this parade. We watched it on the curb right across from the entrance. We got there about 40 minutes before the parade started, and had an ice cream and some popcorn while we waited. This spot is where the parade starts, and we could see the characters in line behind the gate. Sitting on the curb across from the entrance gave us some shade which I'm sure you will want in July. MGM is a good park to go to on a day that you want to relax because you can sit for many of the shows. I didn't find it to be a high pressure park at all.

Do you remember what time it started and about how long it lasted? I will need to make my P.S. for Prime Time right afterward

Unless they move this parade to a different Disney park like Disneyland or overseas, I think it is a safe bet that the Stars and Motorcars parade will still be going on in July. It isn't as old as TOD and the cars themselves are so intricate in detail and so fabulous that I have a hard time believing they would scrap this parade in the near future.

As a matter of fact, they have added new cars and stars over the last couple of years (like some of the playhouse characters). I think it is worth seeing just because the cars are really neat and you see so many characters.

Try to get down close to the parade and the characters will interact with you much more. We watched from the steps of the Sounds Dangerous show and it was a great viewing spot. My DS, 4, kept blowing kisses to all the princesses and they would blow kisses back to him. It was so sweet.

I have seen this parade three times and keep going back because every time I see new details on the cars. Note: It can get VERY HOT waiting for the parade on the hot pavement, so try to find a good shady spot that isn't out in the open.

On the steps of Sounds Dangerous, ABC Theater or near Indiana Jones are some good spots. But also be aware of the position of the sun, because it moves quickly in the afternoon and that usually leads to some bad glare.
