Starbucks in the parks

A quick email to the Starbucks support team (see info on Starbucks website) got me switched back. The thing is it was totally random; had been using both sides of the border for a long time when it switched. Support couldn't tell me why, but did say that they had a small number after a software update. Probably just the right place, wrong time for me.

My Panera works fine at locations both sides of the border. It is a favorite stop for us when travelling.
Costco card (not an app) is good everywhere in Canada/US/Mexico
I find amazon most interesting because my US and American accounts are "aware" of each other, but I have separate shopping carts on both. I tend to load up my shopping cart over a month or so and then place one order - great way to give sober thought to actually needing that gadget. Have to be careful when placing orders to ship to correct US or Canadian address and use correct US or Canadian Credit Card as it auto-selects the last one used on either side of the border (have almost shipped Canadian orders to MyUSAddress).

Long time lurker, first time poster. I tried searching for an answer to this question before posting, but couldn't find one.
I was wondering if our Canadian Starbucks app works at the SB's in the parks? I've heard it works in the US but not at Disney. I was thinking of using Airmiles to buy a bunch of SB gift cards, load them to the app and use it to buy snacks/drinks... Thanks for the help.

I do the exact same. Use my AM to get Starbucks evouchers and load them to a registered gift card that is connected to the app. We have been doing this for a couple of years now just for use at WDW. Never had a problem. You will earn stars at any WDW location but can only redeem at DS.

This. I save up any money I earn on my ebates and checkout apps through the year and purchase a Starbucks gift card before each trip. I link the card to my app but bring the card to the parks. In the past wifi was sketchy, so I prefer to hand them a card. I still earn the stars on the app. We don't do the ddp, so I use the Starbucks money to treat us to drinks and snacks in the park without guilt. The exchange is automatically calculated based on the daily exchange. Don't have to do anything.

I already have $200 saved up for this year -- and it won't go to waste since any balance can be used at home when we get back unlike those pesky snack credits.

The are great for everywhere I've tried. I used it in the UK as well. The airport too grabbing snacks and drinks past security without guilt or worry of price increase. I love that the prices are about the same in or out of the parks, before or after security at airports.

I had no problems last year using my Starbucks card in Universal Studios.

Wi-Fi shouldn't make any difference. YOUR phone doesn't need any connectivity at all for the app to work - works fine in airplane mode even. If SBux network connection is down, it might be a problem, but then your card wouldn't work either. As long as you can show them the barcode in the app, then the transaction will go through.

Trying to understand the angle here (I'm all about taking advantage of the angles). How does setting up a card as a "US card" provide any advantage over a regular card? Are you trying to dollar cost average, or transfer funds to it when the C$ is relatively high?

It doesn't really help me at all. I just keep it in with my US wallet. I transfer my Swagbucks Gift Card $ over to it when I cash out each month. I can save up enough points each month to get $25 Canadian. I already have enough points for each month until my trip so $125. I probably won't use all of them for Swagbucks, maybe some Amazon Gift Cards.

I believe it just figures out how much to deduct in Canadian when you use it in the US. Probably at the rate the dollar is that day.
