Starbright Holidays, the new Christmas drone show, has just debuted at Disney Springs, and i'll be honest, I was a bit disappointed. Great technology, just not such a great show - it was too short and didn't look amazing. Great potential with the technology, I think underutilized though. What do you think of the new show? Check out this video from D23: https://twitter.com/DisneyD23/status/799038672129638400/video/1

Yes the show is short but you can't say that something is underwhelming by a video, especially this show. I was there, I streamed it live and I just rewatched what I streamed and I would've said the same thing.
In person it's pretty breathtaking that out of no where all these lights appear, you can barely hear the drones so it's pretty crazy when they start to light up.
Did they have the best formations and transitions? no. Of course there's room for improvement but for Disney Springs this is pretty great. A venue where you don't pay to get in, and they are amping up the entertainment offerings, locals will come in droves and that's what Disney wants. I'm happy that my family members that can't afford a ticket to the parks will be able to see something this special even if it's short

I watched livestream and videos and thought it was pretty cool.
It's different, it's whimsical, it's festive and yet it was very peaceful.
It made me think of a sky full of fairies.
I can't wait to see it.

Agree with @yulilin3 to be able to enjoy for free is nice.

Watched it with my kids, and they loved it ! Thought they might find it to be boring, but when it ended DS5 said
"Dad, are we going to see this when we go !!?" --- will be there 12/1 --- looking forward to seeing it "live"

It looked a lot more interesting than the lack of fireworks fireworks show at HS to me. I'm looking forward to seeing it in person. I think it will be one of those shows where seeing it in person is a better experience than on film.

Thanks for the review! As usual, you're the greatest! :) Just wanted to ask you where you watched it? :D

Where would be a good place to watch it? or can you see if from most of Disney Springs? Will be there 12/10.

This looks "OK"? Agree I need to see it person.

Most excited for all the future possibilities with this technology. I'm sure they'll be springing up at all the parks as well.

Exposition Park, where the food trucks are, between Bongos and Starbucks, I was right next to where they had all the media people

I don't think it would be fair to judge it based on a 5 minute preview. I'm excited to see the full show & either way I think its cool. Its never been done before so I don't expect it to be perfect. :goodvibes

The current restrictions require that drone be at least 100 feet from guests and remain over water or restricted areas. That restriction severely limits the application. Essentially, it can only happen at Disney Springs and Epcot. Although, I suppose it might be possible over closed sections of Disney's Hollywood Studios.

Yes, as far as I know the only park its currently being looked at for is Epcot.

Interesting, I read this in a couple of articles but I don't see any numbers in the waiver itself other than "...must not fly higher than 200 feet above any structure’s immediate uppermost limit" plus weight and speed. Now it may be standard operating procedure and therefore not needed to be included in wordage. Though I do think it's in Disney's best interest to keep it fairly contained.

That said I don't see them using it at MK any time in the near future, they don't really need to add to the "show" and they are probably working on other things .... and the 50th is coming up.
