I have always booked port side, we are booking a starboard side this time. I think it all depends on what you want to see....at nassau port side you can see nassau, at castaway cay starboard you see the island. Also starboard side you can sit on your veranda and watch the fireworks on pirate night!

The poll needs a third option--"it doesn't matter to me."

At Castaway USUALLY starboard gives you the view of the island but port gives you the CMs waving goodbye from the pier. How much that matters is a personal choice. If you are viewing the island from the island, does it matter if you can see it from your cabin?

I voted starboard because that is what I always booked on the Magic and Wonder. On the Dream I had an aft stateroom with the oversized veranda looking off the back. I've booked the same for the fantasy.
I would always be on the secret deck on deck 7 as we left Castaway Cay and watch us sail away. Now on the new ships, I can do that from my own room.

We had a letter in our stateroom asking that no personal items be left on the verandah, that the door needed to remain shut and that we couldn't be out there during the fireworks on our april dream cruise.

Frankly, when pulling into port I'm likely going to be on the bow. Otherwise, you get the morning sun half the trip and the evening sun half the trip. So, for me, it really doesn't matter.

May I ask if the aft veranda allowed for viewing the fireworks?

Thanks!

FYI , They asked for safety reasons that you stay inside your stateroom and not on the varandah during the fireworks time on the starboard aft side of the ship. :thumbsup2

we bok by category. i've always ended up starboard - that always confuses me so much!!! i rowed starboard on crew, but you are sitting "backwards" in the boat so i get all mixed up when i'm "allowed" to sit forward!! :rotfl:

i really don't even have this on a list of considerations for us... EXCEPT we are thinking that this summer we would like to book an alaskan cruise for the distant future and i guess we should care what side of the boat we re on for that one....

:wave2: Hey Rob! Hope you & MB have a FANTASTIC trip!!

FWIW we had booked a starboard side porthole cabin on our b2b's that were visiting CC...had heard that would get us a good view of the island. We were on a double dip on the 4 n + 1 x on the 3 n so we thought we'd have this great view 3x. HA! The first 2 times we docked at CC they backed in so they could paint the hull of the ship from the dock. Finally they pulled in on our last stop but our cabin was far forward so we had to cram into the corner to see anything. But so basically nothing is guaranteed. Book whatever's available for your category & don't worry about it. It's really not a big deal.:thumbsup2
