Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination

It's not unusual for me to have luck while traveling. For instance, one year I booked a trip to The Netherlands, and not even five hours later it was announced the U.S. National Team would be playing a football (soccer) match there.

So I was very happy when I read yesterday that a traveling Star Wars exhibit will be at the California Science Center from February through April.

My two questions though are: Has anyone seen the exhibit already somewhere else and how much of a trek is it to the CSC?

Its currently in Boston I think. I'm also going to be there and my boys are big Star Wars fans. I'm wondering if its necessary to be a member of the science center to get in early.

It's not in Boston right now. They are setting it up in LA right now. It left Portland OR at the end of the year. We were going to try to get to Portland to see it, but never made it down. We are hoping to catch it during our trip to disneyland. I think we have a couple days that will still be open while we are there. I've heard good things about it.

(Actually, I thinking of sending the boys to see it, while us girls go to the American girl doll store).

It includes a link to the museum site, where you can buy tickets. It looks like if you buy tickets to the accompanying IMAX film, you get in to the exhibit no problem. IMAX ticket holders get priority, as do museum members.

I bought my tickets.

This will be fun. I might be able to ride in the Millenium Falcon and the Endor Express in one day!

We saw it in Portland last month and it is a really nice exhibit. My 5 year old is a big Star Wars nut and he really liked seeing the outfits, weapons, etc. I would have to say it was more of a technical exhibit, robotics, etc. It was hard to get him to stay still to read all that was there about the exhibits and see the specifics. The models of the ships are AMAZING. The landspeeder was cool but you could see that all the kids were aching to get in the thing.

We also saw the exhibit in Portland last month. The costumes/characters were great as were the models. Our DD6 loved Yoda,Chewy, and the light sabers. They also had science experiments with robotics and magnetisim. They had other computer game stations but they were really crowded. In fact the line was crazy long (150 people) and I thought the tickets were spendy($13 in addition to the museum entry fee). It's a stagered entry so they assigned you an entry time when you purchased your tickets, ours was about 2 hours after we arrived. The Mil. Falcon was a seperate ticket and was sold out the day we went, but my brother went and said it was disappointing. I'm not sure if the exhibit works the same way at every venue. It was entertaining if your a Star Wars fan. We also saw Happy Feet at the IMAX which was awesome.

We too saw it in Portland. Take lost of photos and remember to stand at an angle to the glass cases so you don't gt lots of flash back. We were there about 3 hours. The ride in the Millennium Falcon was a waste of cash and time. My DS 14 lives and breaths Star Was 24/24 was the one who said it was a big rip off.

Should I purchase tickets in advance??? Do I need to be a member of the Science Center to get advance ticket/times. What are must see/do other than the $2 Milenium Falcon. Thanks in advance.

Our Milenium Falcon cost more then $2.00 and it is a 5:00 ride with seating for only 4 people (DH and I stood) We waited for over 1 hour.

I did buy in advance, and for the day I bought for in March, they only had one showing left. Not sure how many were scheduled in the first place.

I am not a member of the science center, so no, youdon't have to be a member.
