Is anyone out there going to the Star Wars Weekends this year..or have any of you ever been? I'm taking my Star wars loving husband and son for their first SWW. They are SO excited. I don't want them to miss anything..so if anyone has any advice please pass it to me. My husband has been a HUGE SW fan since he was little..and now our 2 1/2 year old is CRAZ Y about SW!!! Thanks..you guys are THE best!!!

We went last year. MGM itself is not htat bad, but back near Star Tours it was maddening. It was so crowded and hot. Now we did have a good time, but plan ahead. Get there early and schedule a lunch ahead of time. Asks the CM's where your fav. characters will be and head for that line. We did stand in a lot of lines to get pictures--can't wait to go again. you will have ablast.

We are going for our first SWW, too. DH and DSs (5&2) are all huge fans!!!

I know there is a link to get all the info as it updates, but I don't know how to post it. You may want to post on the Theme Parks board. I picked up alot of great info there!

It looks like we may be there the same weekend...look out for us...we'll be the ones with huge grins looking for all things SW!

Have a great trip!!!

I'm TRYING to get DS(8) there the first weekend as it is also my birthday weekend. Can't wait. DS(8) is such a Star Wars fanatic, he is thrilled beyond belief.

if anyone sees any page or info dedicated to SWW PLEASE let me know!!! Thanks!

I went to the Star Wars Weekends two years ago and am going again. I will be there the 18-23 of May. It was so much fun! You will love it. My best advice is to get to the park early. Last time, I arrived before it officially opened and they had stormtroopers guarding above the gate. I didn't see them later in the day. I also grabbed a seat for the first parade of the day and it wasn't crowded at all. It is a great way to take pictures of the characters. Make sure that you get bracelets for entrance to the autograph signings if you are interested in that. Get them early. I didn't know that was how it worked so I lucked out on that. The party in the afternoon is fun and the store has commemorative shirts, mugs, posters, pins, coins etc. I can't wait to go again and hopefully see the new movie at Downtown Disney while there. See you there!

We are actually going to be there through two weekends in May-June. I'm worried, though, because the first one is Memorial Day. Any predictions on the crowds with the double dip - SWW and Memorial Weekend?

Yeah..I'm a little worried about Memorial day weekend too. I didn't realized we had planned it right at memorial day until it was already booked. If anyone was there around memorial day last year and can give us a heads up on the crowd it would be great!

Get there early especially if you want to get the celebrity autographs .Also make sure to take some time just to hang around the ride area different characters seem to pop out all day long. Also watch out for special star wars weekends merchandise it is only for sell on the weekends and is put up during the week. Hang around for the hoopla in the afternoon it it great and especially funny. :genie:

What type of things happen in the afternoon? What time do the festivities last until? We will be there Sun of Memorial Day weekend (we arrive around 2pm on Sat and I wondering if we should head over and then we will be there Fri/Sat of the following weekend. We just can't wait!!!

Any advice on what days/times are best to be there would be greatly appreciated!!!

We were there one weekend last year and it was great fun! Arrive before park opening and you'll get to see the Stormtroopers open the park...they were very funny. We headed straight to Star Tours so our ds could line up and hope to be picked for the Jedi Training Academy. We saw the little "intergalactic Regis and Kelly" show which was very amusing and then my son was chosen to do the Jedi Training Academy. He was trained by a Jedi Master and then got to fight Darth Maul...along with about 20 other kids. It was great fun and the kids get a certificate and last year they handed out a prize too.

Dh and ds made sure to get lots of photos with characters...Boba Fett was particularly amusing as he made those posing for pictures get into all kinds of funny poses, as if he had just captured them. And Darth Maul remembered my son and backed him into a corner for his photo.

There was a motorcade with the guest actors that we watched...and also some trivia games and stuff that my dh and ds didn't sign up to try.

Have fun! We definitely plan to return for this someday!
