Star Wars Weekend...

this is so disappointing. Esp. since DH and I planned a trip to WDW for May and one of the main reasons we picked May was so he could attend the SW Weekends!! Oh bother!

How very nice to know that the people who attend this event aren't worth Lucas Ltd time or effort. Maybe a vote with dollars at the box office for the new Star Wars would get attention.

I kind of had a feeling that this would happen. As much as I would like to go to Celebration II, it would cost too much, and the number of people.........talk about a crush. I have been to lots of conventions (although none lately, what's going on there), this would be ten times more people!

Ed... I wish I could do something... I liked going to these.

Read this on another post

"I just got off the phone with a CM and I was asking her about crowds in May. She mentioned that it can get crowded on Star Wars Weekends and I told her that I'd read it had all been cancelled this year, as per the article in the Orlando newspaper. She read to me from a message the CMs had received just today (2/26/02) that on May 17, 18 and 19, to celebrate the release of the new Star Wars film, The Attack of the Clones, there would be Star Wars characters and events throughout Disney World and an additional Star Wars presence in the Cars and Stars Parade at MGM!!!"

then this reply by a CM

"I can assure you that Star Wars weekends were never completely cancelled. I work for the Dept. that plays a very big part in putting them on. We've known for a while that they were not going to have the usual Star Wars weekends every weekend in May that they've traditionally had (for a few reasons I won't go into), however all along they have been planning to put on a small scale event. I don't know the exact dates they'll be doing it (somebody said the weekend the movie is released?), but I know that right now they are still planning on having a small scale Star Wars weekend. I don't have any exact details, but from what I've heard they will have several costumed characters (who will also appear in the usual afternoon parade), a special pin release, and face painting. I have no idea if they plan to do anything beyond that. I don't think the events will take place throughout WDW, but will stay at the Studios as they have in the past. If I hear anything official, I will let you know."
