Star Wars Weekend Tips 2012

ok, just one more thing- If I get there early for an autograph the lines will already be set up for each individual celebrity right? In other words - I'm not going to have to do a TSM style running of the bulls to get a fastpass b/c I got there early and secured my spot? If I'm 3rd in line for "my" celebrity I will definitely be getting a fast pass?

All correct. :thumbsup2

cannot wait going the last weekend..... with work and family drama plans were changed..... already got everything ready for autographs and cannot wait....any dissers going look for me i will have a purple and black bag with a bow pin with a lime green mickey!

The kids' power pack had a drink (milk), string cheese, yogurt, I think goldfish and a few other things and was $10.00 with the R2.

How many minutes is the parade at 12:40? I am hoping to watch it and then get to CSR for the buffet lunch which ends at 2.

Sign up for JTA first and get there quickly. I would get there before opening. Go into the park, past the first big building and go left. You will see cast members holding up signs showing you the way (and you will see people running, lol)

When you finish that and come out, straight across (next to the carbonite thingy) you will see a desk to sign up for the Mind Challenge.

The Mind Challenge is only based on the cartoon. I have no idea which season because we've never seen it. But my kiddo still had a good time (though you could see him pout when he didn't get the answers right). Im surprised he got a few right because I had NO idea. There was nothing from the movie. I have to take him to school but I will post up video of it in a few hours.

The Mind Challenge was cool but some of the kids didn't quite grasp the concept. When my son lost he didn't understand where he was supposed to go. Other kids didn't get how to choose a light saber. You'll see when I post up the video. But still...they got to go on the huge stage which he thought was the coolest ever. And he got the Zam Wessel figure toy after which was unexpected so he was quite the happy kiddo.

Pictures and videos in a few hours.

P.S. Anyone know if this cartoon shows before September?

Thanks for the info! I think my DS has decided to skip PMC. I guess he could always watch it the first weekend we're there and if he does decide to do it he could the next weekend.

Thank you so much for all your info and the pics of the face painting. It looks like the most Star Wars options were at Darth Mall is that right?

Most of the Star Wars pics were at the Darth Mall but every painting station can do them; Darth Mall just shows the customer visual examples if they can't think of what they may want.

I'd be curious to see a pink and black Darth Mall girl walk around, that'd be kewl. :cool2:

Hi all -
Thank you so very much for all of the information and trip reports! It really means so much that you all are taking the time on your vacations to gather info for the rest of us!

I was super excited for this trip before this thread, and you all have just been so welcoming and supportive of Disney/Star Wars nerds that its just making me all the more excited! We leave in 8 days!!!

So, trailblazers, I have a couple of questions of my own now. I have read this thread pretty extensively, so I do sincerely apologize if any of these questions have been asked...

1. I am a big fan of the pressed penny. Are there any special Star Wars themed pressed pennies to be had at SWW?

Haven't seen any. They'd need a machine only for Star Wars, you could ask at the Darth Mall.

2. What do you think the best time to meet R2D2 and C3P0 is? I know they come out around 3pm, thanks to Kenny the Pirate. Do you think the wait will be long?

R2D2 and C3PO's schedules do change per weekend. Check with the CM at the character line in Darth Mall.

3. Do you think it makes more sense to do the Fab 4 line in the morning pre-parade and RnR and TOT in the afternoon post-parade or vice versa?

You get some shade for 1/2 hr or so in the morning and then full sun after that. If the line's full then it'd take roughly 1-1 and a 1/2h to get through. Check with the CM which next three characters are up and that'll be the characters if you started at the end of the line.

4. What kinds of things do the Jawas like trade?

I traded hard candy and gum last time. Other people who were desperate traded trash like plastic wrappers, plastic spoons and such. When I traded candy and a gummy snack pouch, the Jawa jumped for joy. We got mardi gras beads for that.

5.Does anyone have any good tips of things to say or do to get a good reaction out of any of the characters? (You know, like if you were to say something to Donald about Mickey being wonderful.)

Thanks so much everyone! I hope you all are having absolutely amazing times and maybe we will see you on the 8th!

MTFBWY!

Is there a link to week 3's or 4's SWW map?

As of this morning not yet. been checking.:surfweb:

Thanks CentralFloridian99!

Kenny's website is awesome!

I have a couple more questions:

1. Does anyone know what comes in the Kids Power Pack meal? or how much it costs?

Off the top of my head mozarella string cheese, pack of goldfish crackers, yogurt, milk, and one other can't remember.

2. Where are the FastPass machines for Indiana Jones? that is where you sign up for JTA, right?

There'll be CMs directing you and the horde of people fast walking to the area. Just like a TSM run.

Thanks!

If you get a wristband you are a guaranteed session or stand by. They told me the wristbands are limited. If you get a stand bye they will tell you of the possibility at that point. Most stand by's have been if you get there around 7-ish or so, except for Ray Park the last 2 weekends.

The Padawan Mind Challenge is Clone Wars at the 2:10 slot, and Episode 1(original Star Wars) at 6:10 slot. My kids did the Episode 1 slot and it was funny watching them hesitantly raising their lightsabers but trying to sneak peeks at everyoneone else to see if they answered the questions right. :rolleyes1 But in the end, everyone wins and are happy.

It was originally just Clone Wars for both sessions at Wknd 1 but they got enough feedback that it was changed to add the Star Wars and they've placed it just before Hoopla by Wknd 2.

We didn't see the parade this year, so I'm not sure exactly how long it is. But we have eaten at the buffet at CSR a bunch of times! Love it! They will put barriers out to block entrance to the PM at exactly 2pm. Most of the food areas will serve til about 2:10 then everything disappears. We have arrived already just before they closed the gate. Our server advised us to make sure we got everything we needed as they were going to end serving in just minutes. Once we had our food, they did not hurry us out of there, and it was a nice leisurely lunch.

Thanks for looking! I'm on the look out too!

We have lunch reservations at the Brown Derby at 11:35. We've eaten there before, but never for lunch. Do you think we'd be done with lunch in time to walk outside the BD and see the parade go by?

Okay, thanks! I just told him that info and now I think he wants to do it. I just need him to make up his mind already so I can make a plan, LOL.

I've read multiple reports that the parade is about 20 minutes long. I'm assuming CSR is Coronado Springs--if so that's cutting it close.

The parade ends at the Sorcerers hat, and should be about 1:00p. Whether you see it or not depends on how fast your seated, how fast your service is, and how fast you eat.

For those of you wanting to get Frozen. Go to the old "Sounds Dangerous" studios next to 'American Idol'. I did not get there untill almost 2pm on Sunday (my arrival day) and walked right in with no wait. They had a list to Schedule a time, so I suspect that first thing it is rather busy.

The cost is $115 with shipping, and they only scan your face, not your whole body.

WOW!! I spend one day without checking the thread and had 3 pages to read...Great to read all the reports and experiences :thumbsup2 I was yesterday (monday) at DHS and the only SWW merchandise I saw out was at Youse Guys Moychindise and that was the Darth Donald mugs and the SWW shirts with Darth Donald Maul...they are doing the Carbon Freeze Me during the week as well and happy to take walk-ins (the CM's here were BORED out of their minds) ...I thought that since it was Memorial Day weekend they would do the 2 tier JTA but they were only doing it on stage .
Everyone ready for weekend 3?
Planning on getting Silas Carson and Catherine Taber.Just checked the HUB and weekend 3 map not out yet but I would think all the times will stay the same, just take out the Visit to the Maul show.
Be advised that there seems to be a swarm of the little tiny flies around Echo Lake and it gets very bad at dusk, so during Hoopla it's very annoying, I watched it from the Screen on Saturday and plenty of people were trying to shoo them away to no avail. Hopefully they'll be gone by this weekend.

Actually, day 1 was all CW only. Enough complaints happened that day for the rest of the weekend have the 2nd one be Episode I

Several people have said this in the past, but be careful if you want Jake's autograph. He will barely talk and is a waste of time for most.

We had a really great experience meeting him. He did not initiate conversation but was very talkative when asked open ended questions. I met someone on Sunday who had lunch with him two years ago and said that he is a really friendly person.

This pic was from years ago at a SWW.
