Star Wars Weekend Tips 2012

Last questions before we head out tomorrow...
Is 5:15 early enough to get Ray Park FP?
Where is darth maul's photo spot?
When does the mall open?
Thanks!!!!

Can't answer the first question. When facing the Backlot Tour Darth Maul is to the right. Mall opens at park opening. :)

Here now. Got in 5:35 late start. Line for ray's past bag checkpoint sh might get stand bye. At Andy secombe w/dd line maybe 10 people. Tom Kane's line next longest to ray but maybe 15 people. Everyone's going for rays line.

Just told we'll. BE wristbanded in 5 min. Code for get in line now and stay in line.:rolleyes2

Ray was always so awesome at SWW! Don't miss his show. Thanks for the updates. Enjoy!!:yoda::darth:

I have a few questions. Our main interests are the padawan fight with Darth Vader, the dance show hoopla, and characters. We have APs so not worried about rides and such.

1. How hard is it to get your child into the event where they fight darth vader? Any tips on this? It doesn't look like the sign up is at the American Idol place anymore so where do we go? This would be the most important thing for us to do.

2. My kid's favorite characters are Dath Vader, Darth Maul, the Empor (He likes bad guys what can I say? lol), General Grievous, Yoda, and R2D2. Do they have these characters anywhere?

3. Any tips for the dance show? It sounds like it's next to impossible to get to the stage. :( He's a small, shy 6 year old and crazy shoving crowds don't work well.

1. Immediately at opening of DHS, head in front of Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular to sign your son up for Jedi Training Academy. He will need to be present with you. It's first come first serve with limited availability. He will be given a return time and told where to meet for his JTA. Since it's SWW he could be battling Darth Vader on stage or Ventress or Darth Maul on the ground.

2. You will find most of those characters at the Hyperspace Hoopla. I've seen the Emperor walking around the Imperial Sector but don't think he has a meet and greet. Yoda is only there in spirit and merchandise.

3. I would suggest sitting in front of the American Idol screen. Less people and everyone sits so there are no big people blocking views since the screen is up high.

Got to jta pretty quickly but messed up cause Andy secombes time was same as jta. Went back and traded for later time 4:15. Will stop by sci if and see if can negotiate ray parks time w/ the ADR. Carbon freeze time too close to 1st pmc so changed to 6:00 time slot.

Really hard juggling time slots but cm's working w/us.

Haven't seen Grievous this year but last year saw him walking around the dark side. Yoda is only there in spirit and merchandise. Last year all those characters were in the parade, not sure if they all are this year.

sorry to disagree with you, but General Grievous has never come out for SWW...it would be super cool though...I haven't seen Emperor Palpatine for the past 2 years, but he has come out on the dark side by backlot tour.

Thanks to Karpkg we now know that the park opened around 7:35am.
Have a fun day!! and MTFBWY

I was wondering how they could possibly pull off GG walking around the park. ;)

You are right, going back through my past pictures from the last few years, it was definately not General Grievous, but rather my lack of memory. Quite embarrassed now as I look through the pictures and see it was Kit Fisto walking and my son was playing with his General Grievous light saber. The characters were coming out of the area between TSM and Narnia set.

Will go edit my post. Thanks!

Thanks for the live updates from today!!! They are a big help in planning my trip next weekend!!!

Have a great day!!

Can anyone comment on how the busses have been running? We're staying at All Star Sports weekend 4, and trying to decide whetehr to take the bus or our rental car. Hav ethe busses been starting early enough to get there in time for the stormtroopers? Is traffic backed up at 6:45 or 7:00, if bringing a car?

This is a personal choice, are you interested in learning more about the SW movies and the actors who played the different characters and their experiences then go to Stars of the Saga...if you're more interested in how Darth Maul got his moves, then go to Visit to the Maul.

Thanks. Based on the descriptions, I took the earlier ADR. DH and his friend are both into martial arts (karate and jujitsu) so they would probably find the Ray Park show more interesting.

Thank goodness DH decided he really doesn't need Ray Parks autograph. I was not looking forward to getting up quite that early!

Another question for yall. I am thinking of bringing our two panda umbrellas that we bought in China at Epcot for shade while waiting for characters or the parade. I figure they are really light and we can use a clip to hang them on our belt loops. Would anyone consider this rude? Obviously we would put them down during the parade so as not to block views.

We were there last weekend and took the bus to HS on the first morning (Fri. 5/18) -- first bus arrived at the AKL just shortly after 7am, and had us at the park by 7:15 or so. By 7:20 we were lined up at the gate, and the Stormtroopers made their first appearance by 7:30. They did their thing and the gates opened by around 7:40 or so.

That being said, if you have a rental car anyway, I didn't see a whole lot of traffic, so if you want to take advantage of it, you'll probably be fine leaving around the same time. :goodvibes

In this day and age with skin cancer and all, I don't think anyone would even question it.

Thanks lovethattink! I guess we'll be easy to spot. :thumbsup2 If anyone is there Sunday the 27th and sees a two white and red umbrellas with panda faces and pop up ears, come on over and say Hi!

The worst thing that could happen is that people will want to sit next to you to take advantage of the shade :beach: . Have fun :)
