Star Wars Weekend Tips 2012

Can anyone tell me what time is the SW parade and how early should we stake out a place to stand? We are going 6/8.

The parade is at 12:40, for a good , shady spot ( left side of Hollywood Blvd facing the Hat) you need to get there at least1 hour to an 1 and a half before ...if you don't mind the sun then maybe 45min before

Thanks for sharing the pic, girli565!

I think I recall reading at some point over these last several weeks that if you try to watch the parade from the very beginning/start of the parade route, you don't have to stake out a spot that long. Is that still accurate?

I went on Saturday, and that's our favorite spot because you get a decent amount of shade (toward the begining of the parade the sun starts to creep on you) but we got there 1hour and 40 min. before the parade and there were already people there...I'm not saying it was packed but I guess the secret's out...now on the sunny side of the street you could have gotten a spot maybe 45min, before, but the sun is brutal!! Good thing as well is that as soon as the parade is over you can walk behind the rope and get front row pictures of all the celebs and characters at the hat stage.

It's possible because there isn't a lot of shade left over at the start of the route and the shady sites will go first. But if you are thinking of an up front position I still wouldn't get there less than an hour ahead.

Shady spots go out like, well, to quote you-know-who, caWAAZZZEEE!

June SWW hours for DHS are now 8am to 10pm with Fantasmic! showing at 9pm and 10:30pm

Hey, I have a quick question. How much are the shirts in the Darth Mall? Or in general around the park. I want a few new Star Wars shirts.

The gray event shirt is $24.95 in adult sizes and $19.99 in child sizes. I didn't look at prices on any other shirts, sorry.

Hi everyone! So I've been following this thread for a while, and we cannot wait to be at SWW! You can put us down for June 8th!
Although, I have a question for you experts. We have never gone to SWW. We aren't fanatics, but we want to have pictures with Darth Vader and Chewy, the Ewoks, and other popular characters. We have only planned for one day, but if we want to do pictures and the Darth Mall, and maybe a few other things, would you suggest we rearrange our schedule to fit in another day? It will be a mother/daughter trip for daughter's graduation, so we won't have young kids and we are pretty patient.
Thanks for all the information thus far!

If you plan on JUST doing SWW stuff that day, you will probably get it all in. Be prepared to wait 90 minutes each for Darth and Chewbacca.

But I would still add at least a half day later in the week to do the rides or shows that are Non SWW related.

I think it would be alot more enjoyable trying to fit it all in over 2 days instead of 1. It is possible to see those characters in a day and shopping, just have to remember about characters rotating and the length of the lines.

This is the poster formerly know as KathleensKid. Long story, but I am unable to log in under that name any more. Terribly sad to lose my post count. Guess I have to start posting fast and furious to get it back up...

In any case, I have 2 question. If (and I know this is a long shot) my kids are asked to walk in the parade:
1. Do parents walk with them?
2. Are the walking kids close to the front so they get to sit and watch it when their walking portion is over (is there a designated spot for them to sit w/a decent view)?

I know that given the number of children who will be there that this is a remote possibility and won't even mention it to my kids as a possibility. However, if it is offered to us, I want to be sure they will also be able to see the parade b/c of the 2 (walking in vs watching) they's rather watch.

1.- the kids walk together with the Jedi Master and behind all the parents walk together
2.- The kids get to the stage and then can turn around and see the parade coming towards them, the parents are to the side. You'll be able to see the parade fine

Here's a possibly dumb question: the Celebrity autograph Fps don't affect ride FP's, do they? Meaning, if my nephews get up at 0-dark-:30 and get a Ray Park FP, we can still grab ride FP's in the park, yes? Without waiting for their window to open up?

As far as I know the autograph FPs are not linked to attraction FPs in any way. I don't see how they could be.
