Star Wars Weekend Tips 2012

I walked right in :lmao: (to work..)

Last year my son and I were there for weekend #3. There was a lot of merchandise left for sale!! Unless you are apurest or someone trying to profit from it, you will find something you like.

Take it slow and enjoy the ride. Know that you may not see everything p but enoy what you see. Memories will be made from those things that you see!!

Now that PMC is over for the first day, I'm hoping someone can confirm the belief in response to my question this morning -- is the 6:30pm PMC from the SW movies? The guide map only mentions Clone Wars. We're going next weekend and DS is only interested in SW.

Thanks.

In regards to JTA, I've seen it written both "12 and under" and "under 12" as the guidelines for age participation. My dd is 12, can she participate? Thanks!:flower3:

Are any of the non-limited items available after Star Wars Weekends? I'm going in July, so I'm wondering if I could get maybe a shirt because I missed out last year on merchandise.

Check in the Disney outlet store. I saw the blue cast Jedi Mickey fighting Boba Fett on blue shirt at that time for half off. This was in September last year.

I LOVE the bandoiler lanyard and I'm sad to see it sold out. Hope I can find it cheap on eBay. Big if. :sad2:

Today was the first day. They'll hold stuff back for every weekend; it would be bad for business if word gets out that everything got sold out on the first day and that there's no more left for the rest of the weekends.

Sorry if I offended you or anyone else with the Behind the Force pic or merchandise pics. I will put any more on my TR instead of this thread.

:scared1:

Everyone lives for more info on this thread. If they don't want any more "spoilers", then yes, turn away! You, no! Continue on!

My son is on the Asoerger's spectrum of Autism. The cast members last year were Rey accommodating. I gave him my wrist band and fastpass and was able to accompany him for autographs!

Anyone else stayng at the Boardwalk for the third week?

Had Boardwalk 2 yrs ago. Loved being able to walk to DHS and left the family to sleep in a little bit longer. But get the path to DHS down before attempting the walk for the first time. In the dark. I got lost and wasted twenty minutes walking to the Yacht Club and back, asked concierge where? then on to Epcot and back, then finally got it right. :sad2: Lucky you. We'll be offsite the first wknd of our stay, then at AKL the end of our stay.

In regards to JTA, I've seen it written both "12 and under" and "under 12" as the guidelines for age participation. My dd is 12, can she participate? Thanks!:flower3:

Yes.

Let me just start by saying I don't want to know any spoilers! But I would like to know if the show at the turnstiles was the same as it was last year? My kids and I loved it but I'm hoping for something different this year.

And let me add my thanks to those who are posting about today, as a 4th weekender I really appreciate it! :thumbsup2

Had a great day today:

Go there at 9am, stormtroopers were still on the roof
Saw Minnie Leia and got Toy Story FP
Saw Commander Cody, Lightning McQueen and Tow-mater
Saw Shaak-Ti, Jango Fett
Good spot for the parade
Toy Story ride after parade, even with the FP it was about 20 minsWent to Darth's Mall, 20 minute wait to get in, probably 1 hr to pay(This was around 2pm)
Bought the T-shirt with Duck Maul and a laser gun for DS, found it at the store near American Idol, no lineup. The only thing we didn't get to do is the Star Tours as I forgot to get a FP and I thought of it too late

We left just before 3pm parade and it started raining.
Pretty long day for my DS and DD who are 4 and 2, plus this is our end of the vacation, 5 days in a row at a park. I wish I could have gone to Hoopla

Thanks for all the tips, made my day easier!!!

Sounds great! How big and how much is the laser gun? Was thinking of buying the kiddos lightsabers before we head out but they might like the gun better....

5-18-12
Took resort bus, arrived 7:20
In line center for preshow, about 1/2 way back to tickets
Right to JTA, line was back to entrance at indy, took 20 min, got a 10:15
Rode star tours several times <10 min
Traders had a little of duck limited pin, sold out there in an hour, did the build a droid

Training double standard group, lots of "entitled" parents in waiting room at idol, cms walked kids down, nice show
InLine for parade by 11:30
About the same parade from past Picts I've seen, mobbed!
Went for rockin FP while waiting parade, got a 2:00-3:00, looked at line for tent was at least 1.5 hours.
Did carbon freeze, setup as a prisoner freeze concept, how long what'd they do. No one offered the "Picts" of the scans made to us, the 3d render they showed for completness was wicked cool!

Went to the maul 4ish, walked in, looked like plenty of merchandise left, didn't notice anything in display case that wasn't still at tables, got the piece of the deth star pin, Picts with leia, couple other things. Nice artwork display, looked like they had a vinyls artist signing (not into those)

Picts with some minors, in line at 5:30 for ray at 6, qued up behind muppets, sat lower section.
Went to stage right after, about 15' back already just b4 7:00.
Most stuck it out through the rain, show started a little late
Fun day!

Good day, didn't feel an overwhelming sense of star wars in the park with our approach.

Thanks for all the great advice over the last several weeks!!!

Met 17 characters today (posted on twitter, but will post camera pics when I get home), got in & out from the Darth Mall quickly (went around 7), plus rode TSM 3 times. Going back tomorrow to catch the parade & a few more characters, and then early again Sunday. The Stormtroopers show at opening is so fun, they called me out for using Jedi mind tricks to get in. ;) oh, and the Darth Vader cupcake is SO good :)

Here are the Star Wars Weekend shirts they are selling in the stores. Are there any additional SWW shirts in the Mall?

Are these in children and adult sizes, or just adults?

Glad you had a reasonably good day. Hard to do SWW after 5 days of parks in a row. I'm usually tuckered out after 3 days nonstop at regular parks. Save Hoopla for next visit, it'll be something to look forward to.

Again, I think you also had reasonable expectations and planned your day good. Most people who look at this thread manage to get an idea of what to expect and adjust accordingly. Thanks for the report! :thumbsup2

It's amazing how each person went to the same event and came out with different strategies and goals. One hit quite a few characters, another did relatively few but a lot of repeated rides. Another went with the flow. Sounds like each enjoyed SWW their own way. Love all the reports!

That's what I like to hear. If someone who's never been to SWW can skim this thread for some idea of what to expect then they've already gone far ahead of those who walked in there today not even knowing what SW is. Nice summary. Shows people how much one can do even if they think SWW is going to be so crowded. Looks like a productive day.:thumbsup2

This is where it's a judgement call on the CM's. Last year, a lot of us checked with the CM. Just about all said if it's the adults doing it for their kids, then they may "forfeit" their wristbands to them. (I slipped mine off, DH actually broke his and re-taped it around DS' wrist, they accepted it after an explanation of what we did) Usually the explanations are "I'm in line for my child" seem to suffice. This year I notice the emphasis on "1 fast pass or stand by per person" so I'm not sure how that's working. I'd like to hear from the 1st weekenders and if it worked for them like it did last year. :confused3 But I also noticed some of the time slots are the same for the celebrities (I'm looking at Wknd 2 when I'll be there, there's 3 celebrities for the 4:30 time slot)so...here's to the 1st weekenders to breaking ground for the rest of us.

Gotcha -- thanks for the detailed explanation. I was just having a hard time reconciling the whole "enforcing 1 FP per person" thing I was reading and then reading about giving away your FPs to your kids. But your explanation makes total sense. Thanks!

Yes, there was build a droid.

It will be quieted down A LOT after today. 4th week will be perfect.

The blanket is I believe $29.95 with a $40 dollar purchase.

Good to know -- thanks!

Have a great time!! I wonder why they're doing Clone Wars for both shows of PMC . . . hmmmmmm. I noticed on the Weekend 2 schedule on Disney's website that it said the same thing. If that's still the case by Weekend 4, it makes the decision A LOT easier about not signing up the kids.

ec

It was Boba's laser gun. Cost $24ish. My son wanted to build his own lightsaber but he already has 2 so I swayed him to buy something else. It is a fairly big box, and the sound gets annoying after continous play with it :)
