Star Wars Weekend Tips 2012

What is the difference between the merchandise found in the tent vs stuff found in the stores?? Will most things be offered in the stores? This is our first year going to SWW and will be there in 2 days:)

Stuff in the stores are regular Star Wars merch. The tent will hold the Limited Edition Star Wars Weekend merch., pins, artwork, the flourescent light sabers, possibly life sized figures, Star Wars galore. Star Wars Weekend merch exclusively for passholders. Clothing, vinylmation, etc etc. It's really fun to just window browse.

Are you trying to do them both on the same day? If yes, the split up with your spouse, with 1 of you and the kids heading for JTA and the other going to PMC since PMC doesn't require the kids to be present for sign up (experts, do I have this part right or is it vice-versa?).

Also, I doubt the R2-D2 would be a CS credit but I am guessing we won't know for sure until someone tries it.

Thanks! We are trying to do both in one day, although PMC is our priority as we hope to do JTA on a non SWW day earlier in the week. We just thought it would be great to let them do JTA twice if we could manage it. They are so excited they can hardly sleep and have their Star Wars shirts and light sabers all ready to go!:thumbsup2

Is it wrong that I also have my Star Wars T-shirt and lightsaber ready to go and I'm a 38 year old mom ;) Not only that but since the celebrities were announced I have my Star Wars/ Darth Vader backpack (signed by Dave Prowse, of course) ready with my items to get signed...:dance3:
I hope everyone has fun, enjoy the atmosphere, give props to kids and adults that dress up (man I admire these people), thank the Cast Members that run this event, it's not easy to do.

The regular meet and greet by the Hat during the morning hours will move inside the Animation Bldg during SWW. These characters include, Minnie, Chip and Dale, Goofy, Donald, Pluto and Daisy, sometimes Eeyore, Piglet, Tigger and Stich also come out. Note these are just the regular characters that come out every day by the hat not SW dressed characters.
They will be at the Animation Blgd from 8:30am to 11:30am.

Not at all wrong!! I didn't mention that DH and I also have our shirts already packed! DD is 8 and DS is 6 and Star Wars is something they both enjoy together.
I know it will be a fun event-we are just very excited about soaking in the atmosphere and being with all the other fans!

I have been preparing for SW for months and my poor DH is so over it! :lmao: I started packing about two weeks ago to make sure everyone has what they need and to go over our "attire." ;) My DH turns to me and says, "Do I have to keep looking at these clothes and suitcases for another two weeks? Honey, we leave next week. Ohh, already?"

Now time to prepare the hubby for what's in store.....He really has NO IDEA! :lmao::lmao: So I began to review our TP with him and he says, "Are you serious?!" "Yes, yes, I am!" "You're going to be nuts on this trip, I can already tell."

I also showed him YouTube videos of RD during regular HS and told him, "Honey, this is what you're doing. You need to get our FPs from TSM and you're going to follow this huge crowd and get there first!" :lmao: "I'm heading this way with the kids to sign up for JTA." Then he says, "Well, why don't you run and get those "things" and I'll sign up the kids?" "Oh, no, no, no. When I come back, one of two things have happened....you didn't get there fast enough to get the first or second JTA that I want and we're there all afternoon waiting for our spot, or, two, you didn't even sign them up because you had no idea where to go!" :rotfl2:

The funniest part is the person filming RD panned behind him to the large crowd behind him and my DH just about dropped his jaw to the floor. :rotfl2: He goes, "OMG. Seriously!" I can't stop laughing because I'm trying to prepare him and he has no idea!

I'm so excited, the kids are "getting" excited and my poor DH thinks I'm nuts!! I told him, just be glad that we have a plan and we're not in that large group of people that have no idea what to do first. :yay:

Looking forward to memorable trip!! Have fun everyone and I can't wait to hear back how this first weekend goes....

I sooo want to dress my boys up as storm troopers (or clone troopers) for SWW. They would be increasingly smaller or larger, depending on how you look at them. No matter what, they are all a little short to be storm troopers.
:darth:
I don't see this happening in the heat of June. I just can't torture them with hot costumes.

We are going on June 8th and will probably go back on the 10th.

Here's one for you. I posted this earlier in the thread. A pic of a short stormtrooper. :thumbsup2

All of your planning and preparedness will pay off...when you're in the park and you see a melt down due to lack of planning, like kids crying because they wanted to do JTA, or adults upset because they got to the park at 10am and wanted to get a fp for autograph, or families upset because they got way to late to grab a spot for the parade (believe me you'll encounter alot of melt downs) you can turn to your DH and say: "exhibit A....exhibit B..." he'll thank you in the end. :yay:

I hope everyone has fun, enjoy the atmosphere, give props to kids and adults that dress up (man I admire these people), thank the Cast Members that run this event, it's not easy to do.

Nothing wrong with that. I'm a 38 year old lawyer who is more upset that he didn't spend more of the past year finishing his costume for the 501st so he could march in the parade. Geeks rule.

Absolutely! My friends have not done SWW before, and I know they are skeptical about my plan of action. However, when we get the autographs we want, ride the attractions we want, see the shows we want, and get the merch we want, all in time to catch our dinner reservations, and lots of other people are crabby and complaining, I will just kick back and say, "That's why you came to the veteran."

Which reminds me...don't forget your mister fans, hats, sunscreen, sunglasses, water bottles. I usually get a cup of free ice water or just ice at the Prime Time 50's bar or the Backlot. My Iphone charger. I charge up my phone using the wall outlets at the One Man's Dream sitting on the floor waiting to go into the theatre. I'm also looking foward to those Mickey Mouse ice cream, yum!

Looking at the forcast for tomorrow, be sure to bring rain poncho too, and something to protect those precious autographs from rain drops. Looks like 50% chance of rain in the afternoon.

I swear it pours almost every time I'm in the "old Hunch Back" theater, and that theater floods on the left side, front.

Our Vet has his unfinished one on a stand in his office. The helmet sits on his desk. He saw DH wearing a Star Wars shirt, and of course he had to open his office and let us see his Star Wars collection. He's in the 501st in our city; he didn't know about the Disney parade tho.:sad2:

Disney announced this afternoon that due to scheduling conflicts, Jerome Blake will not appear at Star Wars Weekends May 18-20, and will be replaced by Andy Secombe.

I am laughing out loud! :rotfl2: It is going to be the same for us. I'm the planner and my DH is the "eh, whatever happens" kind of guy. We've been to WDW more times than I can count and have always been laid back and go with the flow. We will be there 2 weeks this time STARTING with the last SWW. I had him PROMISE me that we would whatever he wanted as long as I got to plan some of our days. This is a first for us, but I'm up for the challenge! I want to show him how much we can actually get done if we follow a plan. :lmao:

By the way....my DH is in charge of TSMM fast passes as well because I don't trust him to get the kids signed up for JTA. :rolleyes1
