Star Wars Weekend Tips 2012

Leaving tomorrow If the park opens at 8:00 a.m. will the rides be open?

Oh yeah. We did TSM I think 3x before getting in line for Darth Vader.

We will be there June 2nd and 3rd for our 2nd SWW and as a big Anakin Skywalker Fan (since the 1980's, yes I am a big fan of the whole 5 min sebastian shaw scene), I was thinking about trying to get the Jake Lloyd autograph. But I have a few questions...

1)How fast does everyone think the fast passes will go? If the park opens at 8AM what time do you think we should get there? We are planning on saturday and Sunday do you think maybe Sunday would be easier?

2)Do the actors have photos they sign, or will they sign something you bring? Thought it might be interesting to try to get autographs together from everyone (that I can get and who hasn't passed) who has played Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader together. Of course that would take YEARS to get, but it would be fun to try.

We saw him years ago (2004, I think) at a SWW. We had stand-by tickets and just barely got to see him, as they cut off the standby shortly after us.

I can't answer #1. But can answer #2, in the past they had pics to sign.

Fast passes go within minutes. The CM's will come out holding stacks of FP's. They'll position themselves at the front of the line. Then they start dealing them out like cards. They stay in one place and the line moves forward each person grabbing a fast pass as they go by the CM. At the same time they're yelling out what session has been handed out. "1st session gone, 1st session stand by gone, 2nd session, 2nd session stand by gone, etc. etc. I don't know how many fast passes are handed out.

Saturday or Sunday is an equal opportunity toss up.

I wasn't there for Jake Lloyd's line last time he was at SWW so I don't know how his line may be. But as a point of reference I got in line for Ray Park between 6 and 7AM and got a Fast Pass.

They'll usually sign something you'll bring or if you don't have anything they'll sign a pic they'll have on hand. They'll limit you one item per person.

You're welcome. This is just a small sampling of the SW merchandise.

We did the build a droid two different days. So that is something we will skip on SWW. The queue was pretty big then, I can only imagine come this weekend!

Is opening weekend likely to be more crowded than the next? We still haven't decided 100% which day we are going to SWW yet.

You can't sign kids up for the parade, CM chose at random but usually it's kids dressed in SW costumes or t-shirts that seem very excited about SW.
You could do JTA and get picked to do the parade as well.

Ok guys I'm back from my "research" trip to DHS, got rained out but still walked the entire park looking for info.
Character wise: the area for the Fab 4 and R2MK is cleared of tables and chairs (there still were there this past Saturday) pretty sure that area will be used again for them.
Clone Wars Blister Parck meet and greet is up again the same spot as last year (next to the Cars m&g)
Jedi Council m&g is up, same as last year (across from the San Francisco mural on streets of america)
Darth Vader m&g is up same place as last year ( exit to backlot Tour)
Darth Maul m&g is up same place (by entrance to backlot tour)
no signs of Bobba/ Jango Fett m&g (usually around entrance to backlot tour.

Banners are hung all around the turnstiles and around the Star Tours area.

Since it was raining I approached a JTA CM and asked if there would be a rain location for JTA (already know the answer is "no") she said that if it's raining to still come to sign in and kids would get there certificate and toy (during SWW)
Someone asked about SW merchandise around the park, I saw it in: American Idol Gift Shop...Youse Guys Moychindise on Streets of America...a small cart by Premire Theater...a small area in the Backlot Tour store, but all that merchandise will be inside Darth Mall.

Completely unrelated to SWW, walked to One Man's Dream and the new Fantasyland Expansion area in the back looks great, lots of details to look at.

Not to cause anyone to make updates to lists or anything - but - I will be at SWW Friday 5/25, Saturday 5/26 and at least the early part of the day on Sunday 5/27. I still have to figure out what sort of lime green stuff I will have hanging off my backpack, but, I will be sporting the lime green for sure.

What is the difference between the merchandise found in the tent vs stuff found in the stores?? Will most things be offered in the stores? This is our first year going to SWW and will be there in 2 days
